Howdy , although we missed the session at woomin we got a great sail in on the other side of the island. Some nice swell working its way through too. Only thing that was slightly worrying, Kurt and Dave saw a couple of sharks cruising around i was to busy trying to hold on for dear life as i was massively overpowered to notice anything. Really good runs 2-3 k only turned around becuase i was getting bored. Great shots, Bribie really suprised me cant wait to get back there.

On another note has anyone sailed Yamba recently? does it work in a SE???

Hi Justin great pics can't wait to see some more am also keen to try again especially with more wind and swell. is the summer swell from northerlies would be good to try both directions at sometime.
you mentioned something about tides etc, whats good whats not
ever thought about a webber Q or something similar for places with no bbq's
great day allround especially the colour and taste of the water, looks and tastes like crap off reddy(probably is)

Hi Derek,

an incoming tide moves south at woorim. in a SE'r we would go to bongaree if it was an outgoing tide and go to the lookout if it was an incoming tide. that way you get wind against tide.

so in summer you would want the opposite. with a NE wind outgoing tide would be the go at woorim.

i have never sailed there in a NE wind. the swell is bigger though as it is ocean swell (no moreton island) SE is bay swell. in a big blow the SE swell gets big though.

in a NE wind we would go to a spot in the passage that cranks due to a funnel effect.

we definitely need a bbq. there are a few spots that don't have one and a couple where the bbq's are away from the waters edge. i've added it to the shopping list.

Hi Lee,

the sharks could have been dolphins, there are a lot of dolphins that hang out in the passage... if it was in the flat water over towards sandstone point then prob sharks. one thing about bribie is there is a lot of wildlife around.

when i first moved to brisbane it took me a few years to get to like the place. sailing in brown water and mud was a pain after enjoying bribie for so many years.

going back on the weekend really reminded me how good the place is again. it'll handle any wind direction and the water and sand are perfect
