Time to start a Tas wave sailors association and get the Marrawah trip photos in the national magazine build a club profile ,get some sponsorship dollars and prizes to make running a wave competion or two possible at Marrawah and Bellboy(this is what I am hearing on the beach)add a pro like flo jo or two and suddenly the annual wave comp at Marrawah in January is the place for east coasters to be

Back in the day Windsurf Tas and john Pott ran a very successful couple of wave sailing comps at Marrawah. 2 consecutive Aust titles all done under the umbrella of Windsurf Tas could be done again.

John Pott put an enormous amount of his own time into making these events happen. We need motivated people to put their hands up to be on the committee.
So please if you want things to happen. We need interest as this is a very small committee at the moment.

Positions filled as voted above

President: Vacant
Secretary : Gillian van der Schans
Treasurer : Alan Cook
Public officer: David Andrew

COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Dave Moorhead - AWA Representative
Anthony Houston - Southern Learner boards
Paul Tenteye - Northern Learner boards
Damien Wallace - Southern learner boards/learner day
Adam Morton -
Chris ( Sea pig ) ( can I have real names for the paperwork ? )
Floor ( can I have real names for the paperwork ? )

Rumor has it that the American republican party has a secret plan to bring back Ronald Reagan as president of the USA. (Apparently they have him on ice in area 51 ). I know you may think retiring is a good idea Houston but the rest of us don't. You have done a fabulous job at being Windsurfing Tasmania's president and clearly love the sport which is what we need. I would like to nominate you for president.

You've made a grave error of judgement to think I would come back to the pathetic charade you call Windsurfing Tasmania and to suggest I could be a member of the Republican Party adds insult to injury.......................if you persuade me to come back........... from the cold............. it WILL be on my terms....................I WILL rule with an iron fist..................it WILL be my way or the highway...................you WILL do as I say or SUFFER oh yes you'll SUFFERRR.........................but you MUST listen to my election speech.............then YOU can decide WHO you vote for

Looks like WT is alive and kicking with the committee so far made of:

President - Ant (south learner boards)
Secretary - Gill
Treasurer - Al (north learner days)
Damien (south learner days)
Chris (from Bruny and is desperate to get more sailors down there)
Mort7 (Wynard and keen to get more people sailing on the coast)
Paul (north learner boards)
Dave M (AWA rep)
Steve (Dash for Cash)

Public Officer - Fos

We have most things covered.

Didn't have much luck this year with the slalom comps due to the bad forecasts on the days set, is there anyone who'd like to put there hand up for these events.
GPS comp seems to look after itself.
Haven't held a wave comp in years mainly because wave sailors are free sailors and not into comps.

Anyone else who'd like join the committee speak now or for ever hold your peace

WT is a pretty low key organisation with very little work involved which is good but it's still important to keep it going as it covers insurance for any comps, learner days and the hire of the learner boards..................and importantly please don't feel you have to join, only join WT if you want to, you enter in a comp or hire a learner board.

You don't need to be on the committee to conduct events throughout the year, anyone can organise whatever they want such as movie nights and Kazza's teeshirt and hoodie printing and anyone can hold a comp so long as those entering join WT for insurance purposes.

As Clarky said on a recent post this site is the focal point for all sailors, it's fun, keeps us together and attracts new people to the sport.

....................and it looks like Goats is on again this Tuesday

I am taking the kids up for the weekend- not expecting to do much sailing. If anyone else wants to brings kids and share the kid wrangling that should work. I'll also take a starboard start and 2.6 rig if any of the next generation of speed seekers want a go in the channel.

I will be trying to run at least one slalom, but more chance to run GPS5 or Freerace comps this year. The problem we have is a large sailing community but only a hand full are interested in competing, makes it pointless when only few people turn up.

Oh and sorry I forgot add Jock to the list, he's started a solid contingent sailing out of the RYCT and has been competing nationally and overseas.

And thanks Buzzy for taking on GPS5 and Freerace and maybe a slalom if the opportunity pops up, sounds like Jock is keen to keep this going

Clarence would you be keen to run a kids event on the lake?

I'll put my hand up for helping run slalom & GPS events. I couldn't really run a slalom event on my own as I don't have any bouys and not exactly sure where to place them, but I'm very keen to help.

With deep regret I won't be able to make Stanley this year. Sliced the tip on my finger virtually off with a hedge trimmer on Saturday, it's held together with medical superglue and steri strips at present so even worse no sailing for the next 10 days but I don't want to loose the tip off my finger. It's been the best March I can think of and haven't been able to get out there of late.....very frustrating.

I can organise something for the kids. I will take a START and one kids rig and probably a big windSUP and few 25kg and under size PFDs.

I'm not a great user of PFDs myself but think it is a good habit to get learners in to.

No trouble to do it for multiple kids, I may just need a bit of supplementary gear if lots of juniors want to have a go. If someone could bring a RIO and orange rig that would be great.

Clarence talk to Paul you may be able to get more WT boards. Also be worth talking to Al as he's run plenty of learner days and always put safety first. Well done for doing this.

Looks like we've settled on a committee thanks everyone for participating and if anyone else would like join just do it at the AGM this weekend.
unfortunately I will have to put my apologise in as I'm unable to get to Stanley due to work commitments over the weekend so hopefully that won't put you guys out too much. I always like to look for the positives and it'll mean Johno won't have to listen to me prattle on about how great the world is
Hope you guys get enough wind for a race or two and remember to look after Stewy (sorry old joke) conscious till bedtime
