Now part of Speed Fortnight ...
This is an invitational in the sense that all GPSTC sailors are invited (and the name sounded better) - and the rest of you Vic sailors as well!!
The event will be hosted out of Inverloch in South Gippsland, Victoria, with the sailing venue to include all the waters of Anderson Inlet.
The event will be hosted over the last weekend of Speed Fortnight October 6&7. Sailors must submit a speed for both days of competition to constitute a result. Winners are calculated on 5x10 average to eliminate the 'lucky gust' scenario, with your speeds from both days averaged being your final result.
3 divisions to cater for all skill levels:
Division A - GPSTC 5x10 PB greater than 35kts
Division B - GPSTC 5x10 PB between 25-34.99kts
Division C - GPSTC 5x10 PB less than 24.99kts
Please email president@inverlochwindsurf.org.au for more detailed event information.
What better way to kick off the first weekend of October than to be part of this great event!!! Get amongst it!!
Just so people get a feel for this event Dan. What was the leader board from last year, what was the split between first and last and their speeds
Spare GPS to share around?
Any history of first time challengers winning the A division?
I think the Sting has some venom left in its tail :D
Hi Kurt
I am a division C person and I was only 1.5 sec off Spotty on the last event
Yep - there will be some loan GPS's available thanks to SHQ. So if you are in let me know and I will put your name on one.
Dan, if you could just copy and paste the conditions we had the weekend just gone, that'd be great!!
Just one sample... pretty wild day on the inlet... oh and pretty expensive session too. I'm in the market for 2 booms now
Hey, that's me! Got about 10 seconds from the mast top position before the batteries died- just before I stepped back onto the board. . Did get plenty of boom mounted footage- I'll see if I can post some later.
Two new sponsors on board
Big thanks to SHQ for loaner GPS's and prizes and Zu Boardsports for prizes
I am hoping that the Shops will all send down a rep to get out and have some fun with us also.
Do not forget this is for all levels of sailors. Have a few beginners, lots of intermediates and a few advanced sailors interested at this stage. So come on and get amongst it.
Notice of Race and Event details are up on our website

In an action worthy of wiki-leaks, I notice that DanP has removed his 100% wind guarantee(tm)...it was the major selling point of last year's event, and boy, was it effective!. The trouble was, when we went to claim against the wind guarantee(tm), we found it to be almost as dodgy as the roadside assistance care packages they try to sell you at a car yard..
I'd never be one to stir the pot, or make up scenarios that aren't based in true fact, but it does beg the question that Dan knows something that we don't...
From what I'm hearing Drift we need to pack every board to cover for every wind force...
Divide it by the wind speed at Hogan Island next week....
And factor in residual whoopy cushion echo from out west.
Rumour has it that Drift, based on his latest success in IWC competitions, has purchased a new mega sail to wipe out the competitors. I also believe he has Spotty's 34 kt 2 sec peak on a longboard firmly in his sights.
Plenty of accommodation still left.
Might lash out and stay at the purple motel.
The shearing shed is a bit drafty still at this time of year.
It took me awhile to work out why the sheep Pete but now I understand since you put words with the image!
I hear The Pit Crew might be down grading their accommodation options after the Cremasters and The Busters have been giving them a run for their money the last 6 months. Guess the Shearing Shed maybe an option for them compared to the triple deck boat they had last year.
G'day All,
We're putting up the orange light for this weekend's comp - event is on hold. Forecast is crapola at the moment[}:)]...
We'll make a final call on Thursday and give either a Green light or a Red light with a postponement to a later weekend this month.
But not enough Pete.
Red light event is postponed until the weekend 20-21st Oct. Fingers crossed for a better forecast.
