Melbourne Bayside helicopter photo shoot, open to everyone -register your interest now!
"WV are excited to announce a first for the Melbourne windsurfing community.Jodi from White Caps Photography in conjunction with WV will be doing a helicopter photo shoot in the Bay.This is a unique opportunity not to be missed. You will get amazing photos of yourself just like the professionals and experience the adrenalin pumping rush of being "chased" by a helicopter. We are looking to also produce a short video of the session too. This is open to everyone at any sailing level who is a current WV member.
Jodi is a windsurfing photographer, who has been shooting locals and professionals (Scotty McKercher, Jaegar Stone, Ben Severne, Robby Swift, Ricardo Campello and Alison Shreeve) around Australia for the past 5 years.Jodi's experience in helicopter shoots includes shooting with the legendary John Carter in Esperance, with Birdseye for Margaret River Wave Nationals and at the Green Island speed comp. This is a rare opportunity and I would encourage everyone to go for it!
Please note; minimum numbers apply, so register your interest now!
How it will work:
1. The cost is $160.00. This is an all-inclusive deal and you will get stacks of photos of yourself on a printed DVD, plus a BBQ afterwards
2. Register your interest here www.whitecapsphotography.com/choppershootregister.htm
2. Wait for a good forecast on a weekend during March
3. Get the green light to go, times and bay location confirmed
4. You confirm attendance and pay fee
5. You go for a fun sail chased by a low flying helicopter
6. Have your photo taken from a variety of angles - remember to smile and wave
Any questions, please contact Jodi at wcphoto@hotmail.com
Awesome... saw the helicopter photos from WA recently and was blown away by how good they looked. Let's hope for a 'sunny' day to do justice to the Bay.
If only i was a member of Wv and they offered decent liab insurance
dido!
If the only reason you you would join WV is for better insurance, you are missing the point of being part of the comunity.
Way till kill the buzz man!
You cats have to chill about the whole club things. Respect right for comment, but maybe another forum post?
This post is about a cool copter idea, and it'd be great to see lots of people taking it up because its a fun idea - capture the memories so when you techie kids says "pics or it didn't happen", you can flash out the print :P
Would be great to get shots with loads of people sailing like the Lancelon - just sayin.

I understand that the 'vibe' being lost on another subject, Jodi is an AWESOME photographer and everyone is going to have the best photos. I hope heaps get onto it so it can pay for her and the helicopters time.
I'm going to come down just for the amazing sight of seeing a heap of sailors being chased by a heli!
But, please don't confuse being part of a community and being part of an association.
Thanks kdog and echunda - it really is just a fun thing, I support the sport and the guys and gals in it and just want you all to have the experience :) have had a great response so far but still have few numbers to go, so spread the word :) kdog, love the idea and will def look at fitting it into timeframe :)
With regards to minimal numbers, please refer to the original post. Minimal numbers apply to cover costs.
With regards to the WV membership for the event is due to Lib Insurance for the sailing related components. This includes rigging to the BBQ for all entrants. The same as per all the other many WV events run through out each season. Please refer to the WV website for membership inclusions with your windsurfing state body.
George, Spotty has done 40 knots at Rye and Jacques has done 40 at Swan Bay - on wave sails even!
I recall also that Ed Seymour mentioned to me once about doing something in the region of 40 knots at Altona.
Ado has also done some nutso speeds at Green Point and other parts of the bay although not 40 knots that I know of.
Check this tiny chopper from WA... stunning backdrop
