That Alfa shows more resemblance to the Porsche 356 which came out in 1948.

Have to agree with you there Ian. Richard rewriting history again. He's an expert.

I am not an expert but the coefficient (Cd) is the distinguishing feature. The lines of the 356 are very pedestrian compared to the Giulia Sprint Speciale of 1957. I guess Skoda drivers may be style counsel of their own.

Hell no bro - really?

The Alfa is totally unbalanced looking. That awkward door and windscreen. It's a dud. Like one of those backwards-at-coming-forwards Ford Tauruses.

The Porsche has presence and poise. If you get into the Porsche, the ergonomics are spot on. If you manage to get into the Alfa and you'll need a chiropractor immediately.

Seriously, this is a butt ugly car. Here's a real angle. I call it the grey nurse shark without teeth.

Not at all. All car makers make bad cars and good cars. Perhaps it's taken you ten pages to work out that the world is not black and white?

Alfa makes more bad cars than good cars, but the good ones are fantastic. The Alf Giulia QV is an outstanding car for example.

Porsche makes almost no bad cars and the good ones are first class.

Richard is the die hard Alfa or bust fan.

BTW I've always liked Porsches more than Alfas. They've always been better engineered, designed and built cars for purists but I do get the Alfa passion. It's a shame that until very recently, Alfa's passion wasn't met with good engineering and reliability.

Almost.

At least Alfa didn't get caught up in Dieselgate.

Exactly - almost.

Interestingly, the Mecan is one of the best looking SUV's around but that model Cayenne is butt ugly.

Diesel is for heavy vehicles and proper 4WD's.

If you bought a diesel car, you're probably a gullible mug. Sorry. Top Gear was right about diesels.

Mecan...if you really have to toss off in a soft roader SUV....do it right.

Where did it go? Have you been living under a rock?

This thread is really about one car, the Giulia QV. The fact I called it "Alfa Is Back" implies I think Alfa was not so good for a long time before the new Giulia.

So quick to judge, so easy to dismiss but it takes insight and understanding to recognise beauty. The exhaust note is also a thing to behold. Forget the Porsche.

I wouldn't say that. Just a bunch of guys out for a casual race and the Porsche driver let's the Alfa gently drive through on the outside sweep.

Driving skill and casual racing decorum would have played a far greater role.

The only thing destroyed, is your over inflated innuendo.

Lighten up it is just seabreeze. The Skoda has no racing team nor F1 racing arm.

Mate you need to lighten up! As if the mere mention of Skoda makes any difference to the silly innuendo about Alfa Romeo.

LOL. It was never my intention to turn this into an Alfa vs Skoda thread. That's what you appear to be doing.

But since you bring it up, allow me to correct the record and dispel your false statements and innuendo about Skoda Motorsport.

I know I know...Skoda has been in motor sport since 1901 - before Alfa Romeo was founded by a Frenchman. www.skoda-motorsport.com/en/

Oh and BTW, Skoda has WRC2 rally racing teams.

Here they are winning Rally Bohemia RC2 class last year.

Testing the Monte Carlo circuit...which they ended up winning their class.

RichardG said....The Skoda has no.....F1.

Sure, like many car makers, but neither does Alfa really. The Alfa is just a rebadged Ferrari.

Wrong again dude. They're just good cars and they don't break down like Alfas. A client of mine has a four year old Giulietta and he had to have the whole head replaced at a cost of $8,500. Lucky his insurance covered it.

It's simple to admit your'e wrong about Skoda Motorsport Richard, or you can just pretend this is about Skodas.....
I've only owned an Octavia RS that would belt your lumbering 159 around a winding country road for two years. That hardly counts as a tragic.

I'd actually like an Audi RS4 Avant. Not even the Alfa 4C would keep up with that and it fits windsurfers in it.

What's tragic is how you go on and on about Alfas as thought they're Ferraris or Porsches....and then bring up Skodas when you're proven to be flat out wrong, as if there's any relevance.

So funny dude.

Not even slightly. Other than the engine, transmission and touch screens, the Octavia RS is all Skoda and Audi designed, engineered and built components. I understand the Golf GTI and R engines and transmissions are built by Skoda using VW specs.

A rebadged car is just that, a different badge and trim.

The rally car and racing team cars are 100% Skoda and have been for 110 years.

But I digress and Richard appears to have lost interest in Alfas again.....
