Pff. Ian you can have your ugly Kia Stinker. Enjoy.

I'd go with the Ferrari-Maserati-Alfa designed Giulia any day.

The 1970's Alfa looks better than that Stinker and I bet is a lot more fun.

You haven't done your research yet Adriano. When you trade the Skoda in on one of these I'll be able to say "I told you so". It's a long hatchback. will fit in all your sailing gear.

Not talking about Skodas though are we Ian. We're talking about Alfas. You claimed Alfa has had it's day and we should be buying Korean cars.

Nah. I don't think so. No research required. This Korean Stinker car may be OK, but it's not a patch on a Giulia QV. Not even in the same league.

The specs alone are not remotely comparable and only one has pedigree and class.

Here Ian, do some proper research...

Well I'm only doing the comparison on which of the two brands is least likely to breakdown. I'm not a style master. So as someone with a sense of style, what features distinguish one from the other of the above two cars? To me they look more or less identical. Pretty much the same proportions, they're both red. Do you think the nose on the Kia a fraction too long maybe?

The resemblance is uncanny.

Just a resemblance but badly done. No balance of form. Bad rear head room etc.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Specs don't equate to refinement.

50/50 weight distribution?

One of the sharpest steering sedans ever?

Ferrari performance?

Can't be serious Ian.

Alpha still carry the stigma as one of the worlds most unreliable cars.

True bit stigma often outlasts the reality. Ask Volvo about stigma and they'll laugh at you now.

Diesel Ford Mondeos and Holden Craptivas are probably worse than modern Alphas. Craptivas are Korean.

Make sure you stick to the speed limits next time you venture into NSW then. They'll make sure you duck your head getting into the backseat.

LOL Ian you are a funny guy....

Very strong candidate - yeah to replace a Commodore or Falcon....that's not hard when there are no more Commodores or Falcons right now...

Look Ian, I don't know what your bent is, but no matter which way you look at it, this Stinker car is not a patch on an Alfa Giulia QV. At $50,000 it's a good value package but let's not pretend it's in the same league as a Ferrari-Maserati-Alfa designed European car

Start with the engine.

Stinger: 276kW out of a 3.3 litre bi-turbo V6.

Alfa: 375kW out of a 2.9 litre bi-turbo V6.

So no competition there.....terrible efficiency out of the Stinker compared to the Alfa. what's next Ian?

Torque?

Stinger: 510Nm

Alfa: 600Nm.

Mmmm....

You mean and Alfa Giulia wagon? AWD?

If so, yeah I'd drive one too. Sedans are so......pointless...

Darth, it looks interesting but doesn't do it for me. It is a personal thing. It is not an Alfa. Alfa Romeo, is a car with a beating heart. Driving a Kia is not the same nor do you find pleasure in viewing it as you walk away from the car after parking it. The racing heritage, knowing you are driving in the tracks of racing giants Fangio, Nuvolari, de Adamich and Lauda. It is hard to explain.

"Alfa Romeo is a particular way of living, of experiencing an automobile. The real essence of Alfa defies description. It can be compared to those irrational movements of the spirit that sometimes occur in man, and for which there is no logical explanation. We are in the realm of sensations, passions, things that have more to do with the heart than with the head."
- Orazio Satta Puliga, Head of Design at Alfa Romeo in 1946

Have you ever driven an Alfa ? If you haven't you don't know what you are missing. Take one for a drive. Alfa owners often drive their cars just for fun without any purpose other than the joy of driving it, even just around the block.

Yep and worked for a dealer for a time, Can't say they would be my pick for a car, BMW would be my first choice.

And no they don't have a beating heart and if you owned one you would find out soon enough what they are like.

You sound like a romantic when it comes to cars, I am not, in my mind they are just another piece of euro crap. Its a personal thing

OK... not north of river... that trims it down a fair bit then

Customer attitude... Pfffftttttt... Exactly the attitude you expect from dealersFunny thing is, in the current economic climate in WA, I feel a little sorry for them... it's a buyer market!

The sales techniques they use are so simplistic. Pressure, time-bound, leading questions, referring to higher authorities... C'mon... everyone gets that now... I really can't see anyone enjoying it...

"What can I do to earn your business today".
"If I can get you this one in red, will you do a deal today".
"The sale is only on until the end of the month". It just so happens that the next sale starts the first week of next month
"I'll have to put this to the new car manager"

Do you think a good rule of thumb for an opening offer is list drive away price minus $2000 for each sales technique

I bought my last car by text message... used all of the normal sales techniques, in reverse...

I work with f#$king things

If I was to get a sporty car it would be a Toyota 86. I have a few mods in mind that would add about 15-20k too the bill
