Interesting that this might arrive in my new feed...

How do flat earthers explain the foreshortened shapes of Australia, Africa, and South America on their "flat earth" map?
Bill Hazelton
Bill Hazelton, PhD from University of Melbourne (1992)

If people actually understood how map projections work, they would realize that 'accurate' is sort of meaningless in this regard. 'Accurate' means close to the truth, which...

Can any flat-earther tell me the actual flat-earth distance from Santiago, Chile to Sydney, Australia? And what is the speed Quantas flight LA807 must have to make such flight in 14 hours?
Joseph Nazzaro, Ph.D. University of Wales

First, I think about the deep economic corruption. The SEC filings show that the established blue chip company is quite profitable with a good cash flow. Seems like a good ...

Why do flat-Earthers think Australia is fake?
Bill Hazelton, PhD from University of Melbourne (1992)

Australia is claimed to be fake (or non-existent) because it messes up their delusion of how the world is.

You will note that there was never a claim that Australia was fake...

How do flat earthers explain flights between Australia and South America?

Luis Medrano, Animation scientist/Motion Orchestrator/CGI artist/Musician.
Fat earthers struggle with anything that happens on the Southern Hemisphere. That's because the Southern Hemisphere of a round earth can't be explained at all with a flat e...

How do flat Earth proponents explain a direct flight from Johannesburg, South Africa to Sydney, Australia which passes near Antarctica? (For example, flight 63, Qantas)
Tammi Bouffler, lives in Australia

In reality, they can't. They try to say you can't book the flights; but that's simply not true. I have several South African friends here in Australia who take these flight...

Do short direct flights from Chile to Australia debunk the flat Earth theory?
Jonathan Emanuel-Hart

Per my previous answers I still think the best thing you can do is ask your friend how sextants could give your correct latitude on a flat Earth. But at least one well know...

How do flat Earthers explain Quantas flights from Australia to South Africa in only 14 hours?
Joseph Nazzaro, Ph.D. University of Wales

The prevailing winds are very fast south of the equator, so the aircraft can attain very high ground speeds. The measurement of this speed is not publicly verifiable so tru...

How do people who believe in a flat Earth explain the distance from South America to Australia?
Shane Michaels, Musician,Aerospace Engineer,Heavy Equipment Operator.

The real answer? They don't. They're actually in a pretty constant state of denying that these flight even exist. Even though it's been made clear that these flights do exi...

Why don't flat earthers just take a trip to Antarctica and prove their flat earth once and for all?
Herbert Price, former Civil Engineer, Science, Non-believer, Aphantasiac

Why don't flat earthers just take a trip to Antarctica and prove thier earth flat once and for all?

Well you can do that all ready, allow me to explain.

Ok so you can get a f...

What do flat-Earthers say about the distances in the Southern Hemisphere? For example, the Mediterranean Sea measures about 3700 km from the west to east and Australia is about 3860 km yet on a flat Earth model Australia appears twice the distance.
David Miller, Retiree and occasional thinker at Medical Sciences

Sorry Remery, I think we have been here before. You have missed the many banging-heads-against-the-wall attempts.

The antidote to all the questions you have asked is "do your own research". It's what idiots come up with when they don't know, but whatever they read is 'obvious' to them but they cannot really understand. I.e. they have no idea but think that if you see the same rubbish you too will also be convinced with half-thought-through memes.

We have had a few suggestions of examples of why the earth is not flat, but the local character seems to go quiet when quizzed on this.

Me, I regularly drive down an escarpment and see the boats off in the distance but cannot make out Madagascar or South Africa. The dumb answer given all the time to this is "perspective" which appears to be a flat-earther term that they also don't understand but use a lot.

Maybe you need glasses
Or birds, insects, dust, mist or other things are blocking your view of Africa. It is a long way and plenty of objects could be getting in the way

How are the glasses going to help? I should be able to see some sky scraper somewhere, and insects are relatively low to the ground.

I do see all these ships 'floating' on the horizon though. Are there flying ships now? Have I been lied to and kept in the dark?

First you have to convince him the moon is that far away. He believes the moon is just a lamp hanging from the dome/ceiling.

I think the answer to that one was the belief that other places don't actually exist and they are illusions. (I think the people in the USA believe that Australia is also fictional as it won't fit onto a flat earth map.)

If pressed, I suspect he would argue that the maps are wrong, planes can't actually fly, the lizard people drug you when you are at the airport, and that Chile is actually in Victoria.

I was pondering this the other day while there was a full moon 'hanging' in the sky. The engineering for such a dome would be incredible. Something so big, with no known supports that anyone has seen, yet able to support a sun putting out an enormous amount of heat and light as well as the moon and other stars.

Can we trust Geography?

"On many maps of the United States, the states of Colorado and Wyoming appear to be rectangles.

Indeed, the enabling legislation creating the two states specifies their extent strictly in terms of lines of latitude and longitude, rather than rivers, mountain divides, or other geographical features. Wyoming stretches from 41?N to 45?N latitude and from 104? 3'W to 111? 3'W longitude. Colorado's borders lie between 37?N and 41?N latitude and between 102? 3'W and 109? 3'W longitude. Originally, the lines of longitude were measured west from Washington, D.C.

However, on the surface of a sphere, although lines of latitude are parallel, lines of longitude converge as you go north or south away from the equator. So, the northern border of each state is a little shorter than its southern border. The difference for Colorado is about 21 miles.

Hence, to a first approximation, both states appear to be trapezoids rather than rectangles, though on a curved surface. A trapezoid has one set of parallel sides."

Dark City, 1998. Explains everything, you'll sleep better having watched it. It used to be called science fiction but today known as doing your own confirmation research.

I thought same, world kangaroo day and

Just remember the horizon is curved when you look left to right.

The word horizontal also means curved as well lol.

As for vaccines being so yesterday, well they are still promoting them so there are going to be others who suffer horribly from taking more in the future so we must do our best to inform others of the dangers.

Yeah, but if non believers keep taking vaccines, they will die, get chest problems that would prevent them from rebutting your theory. Wouldn't that be a good thing?

When the non believers are all gone or too ill, you could climb up on that soapbox and tell all the living believers: I told you so.

All the believers would cheer and then build a bronze statue of you in your honour. You would then live forever.

Perhaps this video game as some I've heard call is a test of your soul or spirit.

If you support the policy of coercing the public on threat of taking away their job to take experimental medical procedures, then perhaps you are selling part of your soul.

It seems likely but then who knows.

Well how about be immediate and direct. Stop the Illuminati overlords coercing people to get a drivers licence in order to get a daily job. A drivers licence appears to be a death warrant compared to a vaccine. You could give up yours to make a statement. You know it makes sense. I know doctors and nurses who have drivers licences who have not survived. If you want to save rather than harm people, campaign about one of the biggest killers of people and environment.

Ignore that stuff. What is happening in Israel? If there is only one god, and Israel have him/her/it on their side, and Palestine also have the one true god looking after them, what the heck is going on over there? Is god bipolar?

What amazes me about those who pretend that the earth is round are so amazingly efficient. For instance, almost everyone who sets a long course on an airliner, freighter or ocean racing yacht uses the Great Circle routes. How do the lizard people teach every navigator such stupid ideas - and how do they distort flight times each way and from so many airports at the same time so that the truth doesn't reveal itself?

The best one of all, though, is the fact that round the world yacht racers find that if they head south in the southern ocean they do fewer miles than the boats that stayed further north. That boggles my mind, because if the flat earthers are right then the lizard people must have managed to create some giant currents well to the "south" of the ocean that pushes the boats that go south further ahead of those that hang further north. Not only that, when there's been sailors going around the world in opposite ways at the same time, the lizard people make custom-made currents that push the boats that head south faster whether they are going east or west, so that they record less distance than the boats that stayed north.

What I can't work out is how the lizard people manage to do with and also move the stars at the same time so celestial navigation doesn't show that the whole "boats that head south sail shorter distances because the earth is a globe" stuff is wrong.

If the lizard people can move the currents and the stars, and keep every long-distance navigator in recent history and all the navigation charts and programmes all absorbed into this giant conspiracy then why don't the just use those amazing powers to just re-shape the earth into a globe?

And strangest of all, how come when ocean racing navigators get pissed at the end of long races not one of them has ever let the news of the conspiracy out? Do the lizard people give them special beer or what?

What you call 'south' is the centre of the disc. It is obviously less miles to circumnavigate closer to the centre than 'north' which is the outer rim.

Unless you're one of those basic individuals who subscribe to the frankly ridiculous flat plane theory.
