I was saying The Voice would fail because of poorly educated, ignorant, racist, bigots long before referendum day.

remery, I think that is probably quite an offensive thing to say about the people who first proposed and then promoted the constitutional change and the 'yes' campaign.

I mean, some of them probably did it for reasons other than those.

When governments listen to people, they make better decisions, they save money and they get better results.

I believe welfarism has ,and continues to destroy their self reliance and self respect.

And yes, I have spent time in Aboriginal communities and talked to people who are trying to help them. These people are tearing their hair out as nothing seems to work.

Any young Aborigine who shows a spark of nous or motivation and wants , for instance , to start an apprenticeship on a mine site is denigrated by his peers as a "sellout to the white fella" and is basically worn down by his own people until he finally gives up and returns to doing nothing.

Above : interesting stuff

I don't live in a rural area or around Aboriginals. But I've heard similar things from those who do and understand this situation better than I.

Big banks offer 'cultural leave' to Aboriginal workers after Voice defeat - Sound Health and Lasting Wealth

Indigenous workers at some of Australia's top banks are being offered paid leave to recover from the Voice referendum result.

Ntional Australia Bank (NAB) is offering cultural leave and counselling to Indigenous employees after Australia voted No in the referendum on Saturday.

Westpac and ANZ also have 'special leave' that could allow Indigenous staff to take time off to recover from the fallout, while accounting giant KPMG is offering to hold 'yarning circles' for Indigenous employees to discuss the result and 'heal in a culturally safe space'.

'KPMG Australia encourages all First Nations employees to take cultural leave and additional paid leave where required to help process the result of the referendum,' a spokesperson said.

NAB Group chief executive Ross McEwan told The Australian the referendum was a challenging loss for some staff but it respects the democratic result.'The people of Australia have voted,' Mr McEwan said.

The announcement comes after Daily Mail Australia revealed a university had given extensions to Aboriginal students to cope with the emotional toll of the No vote.

What did you buy with all that free GoFundMe money?

Ooohh... I just got that. I remember now. I think I even gave some money for the 'save PM33' fund.

Is he giving it back now?

The only ones being had were the Yes voters who fell for the lie that a bunch of radical, racist, power-hungry left-wing activists actually spoke for the 3% of Australians who have some indigenous ancestry, just because they have some racial connection. That's the very definition of racism.

No it's not. That's not racism, That's like saying the vocal minority that speak loudest in white culture is racist towards the rest of us. Clearly they are not.

So many people call out 'racism' that it's important to recognise what it is and what it's not.

I remember our old friend Logman explaining racism to me, he posted a youtube clip that explained racism can only exist from a position of power, therefore minorities and or oppressed peoples cannot be racist. I asked him if that meant a white farmer in Sth Africa could no longer be a racist..... no reply of course.

So you have identified a large problem. How do you resolve that? There must be a way. What is it? Throwing your hands up in the air and saying 'no one knows' is a terrible approach and getting us nowhere.

For everyone that thinks just because someone is Aboriginal that they know the solution, it's like saying that someone that is white knows all the answers to social problems amongst white people.

Maybe they need a positive role model to look up to.

Someone who wants to stop the pertpetual victimhood
someone who wants to stop the DV
someone who wants to put human rights before culture
someone who wants to stop the waste and corruption
someone with the same lived experience
Someone with a VOICE that is not afraid to upset the status quo

Any ideas?

Remote Communities. - no jobs, no ownership, no prospects, bad health, high costs.
and no intention of ever changing it. How can a whole group or township expect to continue to live on welfare in perpituity. And why is it a surprise when this causes social issues? The welfare culture and acceptance that this is the norm is 100% the issue.

The example bjw gave was of someone giving up on an apprenticeship due to pressure from his own community.

How does your suggestion resolve this?

Non aboriginal people in cities have drug and violence problems.

Non aboriginal people in small towns have drug and violence problems.

Do we close down all towns with a population less than 7000 people?

My guess is that when you start to solve the problem, the people at risk willingly move into higher density areas.

Your mates voted No to an inquiry into child abuse in indigenous communities. Guess the children voices don't matter? I guess it makes sense, since most of the left like to either fiddle or mutilate children.

Yet a simple meme ruffles those peacock feathers.

I would agree it is a generalisation rather than a rule, but I would suggest the comment does capture the circumstances and culture of a very significant % of our remote communities, irrespective of race. That said there are similar welfare cultures within our cities and towns of many different cultural backgrounds. Race is not a factor, culture is.

I would 100% agree with you that these sort of view should not consider race. That is part of the problem.

I would also agree that any effort to address these issues should not be based on race, but solely on need and circumstances. Race should not come into it whatsoever.

If you agree with that, which you seem to, then perhaps you are getting a small idea of why Australia shot down a change to the constitution based on race.

EDIT: great article on the welfare state and its ills www.spectator.com.au/2023/10/enslaved-by-the-welfare-state-the-tragedy-of-australian-kindness/

Wow. Someone greenthumbed you for suggesting that someone's political leanings mean they are child molesters. I think your perspective is a bit out of kilter there. I can only hope you greenthumbed yourself otherwise there is some other weirdo out there.

Senile old man it is then.

I just figured sublime was a psychojoe sock puppet.

But it probably needs Pcdefender to actually connect those dots

As for ruffled feathers, this is all just discussion. If someone wants to argue a point of view, I am happy to argue mine. If someone is being a twat with memes, I am happy to reply. Yeah, it is a bit of a puzzle. I saw the account was created in 2005 but has very few posts. I am sure this is before Psychojoe's presence. So it's not a new account, just a new name for someone hiding.

I thought they stopped you from changing your userid after a certain amount of time, which puzzled me, until I remembered that its probably not how long you have had the account but the amount of posts you have made. They/he/she/it hadn't made many posts which is why they were able to change the name.

How about we hand the decision making about Aboriginal communities to Aboriginal people by firstly recognising them in the constitution and then empowering Aboriginal people to make decisions regarding Aboriginal communities and provide that advice to the government.....Oh wait

You want to want to "hand the decision making about Aboriginal communities' to a bunch of left-wing activists living in inner-city Melbourne with whom they have nothing in common other than some degree of aboriginal ancestry?
