Couple of days ago was on the bus to Tweed sitting at the back and a group of teenagers got on & out came the buds & the talk was about selling etc .. some of them would be 12 or 14 ....now I am for legalising but after seeing this I'm not so sure... what sort of future are these young guys setting themselves up when smoking at a young age & stil at school...?

Ever see 12 n 14 yr old kids sitting on the back of the bus selling ciggarettes or beers..?

No, well maybe to other 12 and 14yr olds
But that's always going to happen no matter what

I wouldn't buy weed from a 12 or 14yr old, unless i was stretched.
I wouldn't sell weed to a 12 or 14yr old (I'd sell them oregano or something then laugh at them), neither would a legal dispensary

Weed should be legal
Politicians should be in jail
Every single one of them

Smoked plenty 20 years ago and it became quite a habit for while. I really enjoyed it back then.... think I'm much better off without it now.

Looking back and in the bigger picture, I can't see anything fundamentally good from smoking it or legalising it.....

Interested in other people's thoughts.

There is a lot of good that can come from legalising or decriminalising it.
First of all is not getting a criminal record for something that causes no harm to others.
It should be a free world.
Let the people make up their own minds.

Weed is going to be such a massive industry.
The amount of scientific research going on at the moment is mind blowing.
It's just a matter of time.

I would love the opportunity to try the CBD strains that are available in the USA.
And I guess so would every Australian that suffers from epilepsy.

I guess you can say the same for alcohol.
More resources should definitely be put towards protecting the next generation.
But that is no reason to persecute adults.

Aren't adults (i.e..parents) the ones to protect and educate the next generation?

Or are they just too pissed and stoned to worry?

Yep, can totally understand and appreciate the need for medical purposes.
But most that are fighting for legalization are just druggo's that just want to be stonned out of their skulls legally.
Yeah most people try it and have a laugh smoking a bit of weed through their teens and early 20's,even the odd toke at a party later in life, but some cant stop and end up slow and as dumb as a roadie, and as bright as a shadow.
Once past the teenage/early 20's age, the older stonners, are pathetic losers that need to grow up. If they need to be wasted all the time, they are obviously troubled and unhappy with their lives and just trying to escape it, like an alcoholic does.
Pretty sad really, that they get to the stage that they feel they cant relax or function without dope.

Druggos are the dead beet crack heads that rob people for a hit. Not family guys that work, contribute to the community and love water sports. I'd rather work next to someone in a high risk environment that has had a bong the night before than some bloke that downed half a carto.

Wow, if I was in a high risk environment that my life depended on, I would hate to be depending on a druggo with slow reactions times because they have been dulled by dope.
" oh wow sorry duuuude, my bad, didnt know I was spose to turn off the power for you before you touched that live wire,, I was too busy watching that butterfly and eating my tofu mung bean burger ,, bummer duude ay"

How did your mate who smoked bongs the night before get to work? Dope still effects your reaction time 24hrs later, hope he didnt drive and risk my, your and our kids lives??

I am interested in the strains of cannabis that have no THC, CBD has been a proven therapeutic agent for many ailments.
Even if people want to be wasted all day, its still not reason enough to give someone a criminal record for person use.
The current drug policy of locking people up is just stupid.
Whats the next step, privatize jails and report to shareholders.

Some time ago I spent some time working in a steel mill. A number of the operators would smoke weed at work and then eff up big time. Like the crane drivers in the 'soaking pits' crane. The pits were essentially huge furnaces used to heat up 16T steel ingots. The drivers would extend the mast of the crane down into the pit to grab the ingot then 'forget' to lift it up before driving the crane away, with the mast still in the pit it would bend the mast and break heaps of things. The stoned driver would then go and read stick books in an air conditioned smoko room while myself and others worked in stupidly hot conditions on top of the furnaces (with the door open cos the broken crane was jammed in the way).
These cranes had a pipe cleaning tool, covered in resin that was left in the cab for the next driver so they could unblock their pipe without leaving the cab.
There were many incidents. The management of the day was either unwilling or unable to stop drug use at work.
Even though I think the current laws are not working, the safety issues need attention and may need more attention if it becomes legal.

So a lot of you are implying that all stoners are wasted all day and useless. Hate to let you know that a lot of your successful friends smoke pot. They just keep it on the downlow due to the fact it's illegal and that you'd probably drop by too often if you found out. It doesn't take much effort to not get stoned all day everyday. Just like you don't drink 24x7, though a lot of people do drink 24x7. Alcohol is just worse and more noticeable.

Why is it legal for me to buy a bottle of bourbon and bag of goon at the same time. Drink them in one day and then cause havoc. Yet illegal to grow a plant in my garden and spend a year consuming it peacefully? The people I've known who died in a car crash were never stoned, some drunk though. Assaults and fights also from drunks not stoners.

Sure, it's unacceptable to drive/work stoned. Maybe rather than a drug/alcohol test we could get subjected to a reflex/comprehension test. That would get rid of all bad drivers, whether it be drugs, alcohol or just plain sh#t.

I don't want a beer at night very often, i also don't want to be a criminal.

Here in the states, it's becoming legal, state by state, even though it's still illegal according to federal law, the enforcement has been left up to the states, so it's basically legal. Every state has adopted the same laws as alcohol, must be 21 to smoke or drink, which I think is totally appropriate.
We have one problem that I think needs to be addressed, eatables, it takes longer to take effect, so people (mainly juveniles) are eating way too much of that stuff. The kids shouldn't be eating that stuff legally anyway, but they seem to be getting their hands on the eatables anyway, pot infused candy, cookies, brownies, whatever. Some of them even take it to school to eat during the day. I'd like to see the eatables removed from the pot stores, people could easily be making their own, if they want it.

I've had a love/hate relationship with the devil weed for most of my life. I was off it for 10 years then got back on it a few years ago. It was fun to take the boredom out of dull days and could put me in a productive mode but I look back on it and I got more done when sober. I was using it recently to counter the effects of chemotherapy for which it was somewhat effective but when doing it every day it becomes counter productive. THEN... it triggered some severe episodes of sadness bordering on anxiety attacks, SO... I'm off it now probably for a good long while, FOREVER? that's hard to say, it is definitely addictive.

I'm assuming you have seen the studies that show weed doesn't cause schizophrenia? Yes it can trigger it early, from memory it's about 4 years. Basically if smoking weed makes you schizophrenic, you were always going to be whether you smoked or not.

Let's be clear, the ditch weed people smoked as late as the 70's was nothing compared to the potent sensemilla's people are using now.

The majority of people are able to enjoy alcohol (not at work, in moderation) without becoming addicted or dangerous aggressive idiots.

It's the same with weed. For every couch-locked-Centrelink-dependent vacant waste of space there are many, many useful working people (some of them very successful, and possibly your doctor too) who like a smoke to take the edge off, as well as enhancing their appreciation of everything from nature to music to food to sex, and helping them to see The Joke and laugh.......

The families of those epileptic kids should be able to get their cannabis oil without the police (taking time off from supposedly making us safe from criminals) raiding their homes, charging them, and taking their children's proven effective medicine.
