Anyway back on topic.....can someone tell me why there has not been a fatal attack in South Australian waters in the past 12 months......reports are that the cage diving industry have had a bumper season approx 7 different sharks most days ?
Maybe because the sharks are being hand fed

Good reply, just maybe yes!

That is a very good suggestion.
One of the newest discovers in the last few weeks has been that our State Government, back in 2002 removed Fish from the Animal Welfare act?
That is now being challenged and if that is reversed then your drums idea may be out the window.
Thats one legal movement.
The big issue could be if that gets held up in court, then anyone participating in any cull could be in a bit of bother???.
Well that would open up a can of worms wouldn't it?
Can you imagine what would happen to the recreational fishing scene if the same rules applied to catching fish as applied to dealing with other animals?
We would have Lyn White on telly having an apoplectic fit about the poor fish being dragged on board with a hook in their poor little fishy mouths.
Ooohh the agony of it all!. They need to be anesthetised first.
jbhack, the same rules don't apply to fish as to other animals for a good reason. They are different to animals.
They are very long way down on the evolutionary process.
I think it's best if we leave that one well alone.

Im not sure you could compare GWS even to other sharks, maybe Tiger shark or bull sharks but not many others.
I seen a poor 800kg marlin hauled up by a crane for a photo shoot last week I thought that was a shame poor big fishy!

They have Marlin charters up there from what Ive seen, is there a bag limit on Marlin?
Bag limit is 1 fish (of each species) per day i think but not many get kept. I've seen some big fish (800lb+) weighed and towed back out but i dont think they waste them too much these days so its no different from keeping a 20kg dhuie or 10kg red emporer really.
Marlin isnt bad to eat but you'd want to target the small ones. 60-120kgs so they are more manageable.
Southace, 800kgs or 800lb? I chartered a bloke last year in vanuatu who has caught enough 1000lb+ fish to be serious and he was telling me a story about a 1500lb blue that destroyed them on 130lb .
K, just heard this.
To be confirmed. I quote.
"I was talking to a bloke from department if transport who has to do with the great white shark survey with the fisheries.
Told him they tagged 27 great whites over 3m in 5 days outa Perth and Cockburn sound"
Has not been released to public. U heard it here first folks."

If thats true, that would be A great news B very interesting C i think almost impossible to do, as that would be a mammoth effort for anywhere in the world. They would struggle to do that in Neptune or even Shark Island of SA i think? SOuthace you'd know better..
D if that is the case than F-ck me..Time for some personal protection..Ie Surfsafe
Underoath that is a very different number than anything i've heard. I have had a few private conversations of the books and non have mentioned anything like that. Will the info be released did they say? There has been a three year study conducted by Fisheries that is to be released in January and that is what a lot of people are arguing, Either they have info already that states something serous and they need to share it, or they have nothing and are being reckless by acting before a three year commission is due for release..
Not saying it didn't happen but would love to see a bit of proof about that one..

Umm...what? Fish aren't animals?
As ridiculous as that sounds I think it's a pretty common misconception. It's common for people to brutalize fish in ways that they wouldn't consider appropriate for any terrestrial critter.

How did they get them 27 GRWS round there boat to tag them? Would have to be a good chum trail going at least 3 days chumming get the slick right down the coast?
Jesus
Chumming for sharks is unlawful in SA unless u have a permit you need to apply for a chum permit and a flag to fly. No 27 sharks sharks are going to tagged with out a big chum trail and a public warning.

When was the last time you went out in Cockburn sound during pinky spawning season southace? Have you ever been?
You've fished the d9 have you?
Nope I just know what it takes to get 27 GWS up to a boat for tagging. But I'm sure what your asking is an awsome place!
I'm not asking anything mate. Just saying it's not uncommon to have 2 if not 3 whites plucking pinkies off rec fishers lines boatside every night... almost become a spectacle.
Mark the time you read underoath's post for posterity, jb and southace.
There is more out there than you would like to believe.
One day I'll tell you how I know.
Could we get some go pro footage? That would be awesome..... I have many underwater footage and 1000s of pics.

oh how cool kiterboy I'm sure we will be waiting for you to spill all .
Could you please tell all on what's it like at the processing island? Is there any sharks there? Can you chum up? Could we start cage diving there? That would be awesome if you could check it out for us. Cheers Jesus.

Come on mate, you're just making yourself look silly.
I find 27 tagged in 5 days a bit hard to swallow, I used to fish the snapper orgy a fair bit and as stated it's commonplace for three or four Whites to make pigs of themselves, to the point where they're lolling around like a drunken fat slapper at a teenage beach party.
But 27 different Whites over 3m in five days would be record breaking ****. Anywhere in the World.
Then again, maybe that's why we're the shark attack capital of the World.
Still can't believe one of these stupid ****s on kayaks hasn't been nailed at the Snapper orgy yet.
I find it hard to beleive, thus why im going to speak to the bloke in person.
See if its fact or a work of fiction.
