Markass did you put the canopy in for repair? Try 'Hold The Line' Perth for some advice or look for Mike at 'Fetish Kiteboards'.

There you go something positive. I think we have all made mistakes over our kitesurfing careers when put in a situation of stress we sometimes fail to think logically which results in broken gear, bruises and lessons learned.

BTW How old are some of you? Get a grip and think about your posts before hitting return. It seems to be the same offenders over and over again who bitch, whine, argue and moan.

It is really boring.

Markass, I'm by no means an expert at this sport and we were watching you to begin with to keep an eye on you as it was obvious you were having trouble relaunching and were headed for the groin. Once you were near shore figured you were ok given your immediate surroundings and conditions, but would have glady come to your aid if I thought the situation needed it. Like I said, I was up on the cliff and only got the camera out to take a snap of the kite after you pulled it ashore. Thought the seabreeze readers might find the photos interesting, didn't have an agenda, didn't even consider you might see the posting and I don't even kite at Cott so personally don't really care if you rigged up in the phone booth. Thought your reply and version of events was intersting and couldn't help myself, sorry mate. Take it easy hey

So who died ?
It's just a ripped kite.
It can be repaired.
And that 5th line needs attention too.
It was so worn it snapped on release in pus wind and mush surf.
lol.
5th lines that wear due to poor design and in-built chaff....
make for runaway kites and potential trainwrecks.
Stupid 5-liners.
haha

Wow I can’t believe I didn't get a mention. Let me add my side to the story. I'm the chick that kited in after Markass to try and get his kite up when i saw him drifting for the rocks, and then the plan was to kite round to cott. Unfortunately the wind died and my pink 7m was only barely in the air when i got in a few meters of him, I managed to make a few strokes into shore to come in just before the rocks on the beach. But by then I couldn't even water drag on my kite. It could easily have been my kite on the rocks. At least I went in after Markass and didn't just stand on the cliff eager to get a camera while watching people struggle below!!! Like I said the wind died and I had to drift in on the waves and get DUNKED on many a wave to get to shore. I came in right in front of the cliff bit and had to walk in over sharp rocks (****IN SHARP ROCKS-even if mark had deflated i recon the kite wud have been dumped on the sharp rocks underneith for lack of boyancy and torn to shreds anyway-so its your call what you think was the best idea in that situation!) I had to climb up the cliff and land my kite next to the road! Thanks to the local guy who gave me a hand! (love to send you a thankyou gift mate you made my day). Now I saw the 5th line and its completely snapped, the holes and cuts in marks wetsuit, booties and hands. Well done to the guys who have been such dicks on this forum-its not like you have never ****ed up or had a bout of bad ****in luck, or made a wrong decision. Im sorry that there's guys like you out there!!! To the guys out there who helped us out and the guy/girls on the forum for backing him up thanks a heap I’m sure it means a lot to mark.

.... just re-read your post Markass. Come on mate, you said "no time to release the bladder before the next bigger set came through". Your kite was floating in a bloody lagoon. Water was splashing up on the rocks, but there certainly were no waves or surge of any kind, and your kite was sitting still a good 5 metres in front of the rocks.

Personally,
I'm not a big fan of on-the-water packdowns when it comes to self-rescue.
That's another misguided kitesurfing myth. ^
I'm all for keeping the kite rigid....
pumped-up hard, framed-out stiff.
The dump valve is 2-way...
after the air spurts out, the water flows in.
You don't want to deal with a big, cumbersome, waterlogged 12m rag.
I mean, if you wanted that......^
you'd fly a doona, hey ?

As for this particular situation,
(and it's easy for me to speculate from the comfort of my computer chair)...
but I would have just lifted the kite up off the water and plonked it on my head,
when I reached the shallows.
You know, like a poley does when he carries his rig (and board)......
On the head, on the horizontal plane, into the wind.

Good stuff Jess.

I once had a girl named Jess on a Pink kite carry my board in for me when my kite deflated at woodies once. I was also lucky enough to have someone else carry my kite in, and a third person to tow me in too. I didn't even have to ask, some people are just nice.

It means a lot when people you dont know go out of their way to help rather than point and laugh.

And helping people always goes full circle...

Yeah, but most kiting booties have soft flexible soles and provide very limited protection on rocks. I've walk on a reef in mind (brighton submerged reef) and I can tell you whilst they save you the major reef cuts, they don't save you all the pain. Its damn painful.

Man he said there were waves... a wave is going to hammer a kite way harder than wind

Bad luck buddy, I'm sure you'll be able to get fixed up, it doesn't look like any of the tricky stuff has been busted, you're bladders don't seem to have been slashed at least. Kite glue and heaps of stitching.

the problem with sticking up for your boyfriend missie is that i was their that day kitesurfing at that exact spot and ur boyfirend told me that their was practically no power in his kite and hes was still stupid enouph to go out. He should of used a little of commen sense to not go out with a 12 metre kite when the wind dropped to 10 knots and even under.

Maybe Mark shouldn't have gone out, but who hasn't had a day like that, I was on 7m and it kept floating so I would have thought that the 12 would have been fine, yep phone box is a tricky spot to kite and not for the inexperienced, yes he prob shud have walked his kite up to the groin before kiting off so as to have more space, yep he ****ed up but he did what he thought was best in a tricky situation. No you shouldn't have posted photos without his aproval, every kiter in Perth basically goes on seabreeze so that is a lame excuse as he would have seen them eventually. No you shouldn't have given him such **** on this web site its not really fair-i bet you've ****ed up in some way (I sure have) but at least someone didn't post my photos up for heaps of people to put the boot in to make me feel worse and more imbarassed. What's happened to kitesurfing that everyone is ready to give others **** and not be a community where we help others out-give each other hints and try and improve everyones knowledge so that its safer for us and them out there and the orthoraties don't close down kite spots. Now I know not everyone is going to be happy or agree with what i'm saying, and I know lots of people believe as i do, but hell thats life. Now I really cant believe this forum so I will just leave you to it, i refuse to quote again, as there are way better things for everyone to be doing than having a bitch on seabreeze, and i'm sorry I let the petty things of others get to me.
cheers jess
