Obviously you and I haven't changed our views.

My view is that if you want to have a holding tank and that makes you feel morally superior, fill your boots or tank.

If compliance to legislation can be achieved without fitting a holding tank as I simply described I certainly will not be fitting one.

If you want to put me in Coventry for having that view, again, fill your boots.

To be fair CISco there are all diffrent types of yachties/boaties on this forum. Your view is your view. We are talking about holding tanks here and tmc loos Not black buckets with lids.

If you had a liveaboard yacht in the marina if you want to use a bucket or walk to the toliet block in the middle of the night or what ever that's up to you.
For me I like to be able to poop in my own toliet anytime I wish and including my guests.

Have you actually lived on your own yacht for over a 12 month period?

Gee, I only resurrected this thread to point out the inadequate construction of a particular charcoal filter. But it appears I've opened an old can of worms.
While in regular use the system worked admirably, it only became an issue on decommissioning, I'm one step away from removing the tank and fire hoseing it ( not such a big job, kinda like a porta dunny with hoses )
fitting diy charcoal filter in next week, and pressure test, will report back, unless the methane levels reach explosive level, then you might see me in the news, 1st solo atempt to fly a spray to the moon

You just don't get it do you southace??

Yes, I have lived on my own yacht for 5 years out of Airlie Beach and Cairns in survey and running charters.

There is no legal requirement to fit holding tanks. There is a legal requirement not to discharge sewerage (poo to you if you do not know what that word means) in protected waters.

End of story!!

I do not hang around marinas and my health situation does not compell me to defecate in the middle of the night. You are so obviously so full of it, you have to. You have my pity.

It is alright woko. Being the skite he is, southace can't help but point out how perfect he and "The Mighty Icon" are but that is the chink in his armour.

Cisco I'm sick of your arm chair critisim on this form don't ****ing comment on post that I post . Pull your twat head in. I'm going to report you once again to admin like others have done. I have seen you so many times critise or question people's ability's because they don't suit your expectations. I enjoy working and cruising on my floating Joe Adams design yacht and did enjoy sharing it on this forum, but from this day on because of you it won't be happening anymore. I'm done with this..admin will be removing all of my posts and my name from this site. done! Over and out!

Careful people. Cisco's a patriot. He was at war for Australia.
This means he knows his S**t.
If it wasn't so sad, I'd find it funny.
Happy now Cisco?

Get what? Since I have received some nice private messages to continue with the thread I decide to continue posting , but if further trolling continues with fresh baits I will cut my lines from any future comments on this website/forums.

As to legislation not that my post had anything to do with legislation. It states No black water/poo what so ever is discharged overboard within 3 nm to the closest point of mainland. There fore with in those limits you need a holding tank or a (bucket with a lid for the smaller boats) or a portapoty for for the ladies.

As a livaboard for 10 years now on two yachts I have rebuilt/modified I have fitted a black water holding tank with gravity feed discharge. As a commercial master 5 and a boat delivery freelance skipper I rarely see boats looking for pump out stations , in fact the commercial port I live in doesn't even have that facility neither does it have toilet or shower , you can use the swimming lesure centre or the pub for a small fee.

So yes it's legislation to contain your black water within 3 nm of any Coastal waters. So a holding tank is a plus to any boat neither black bucket or holding tank it's all the same just the convenience and luxury is what I seek.... nothing to do with who's boat is better or what how you should do it.

You are either staying or going. Make up your mind.

As long as you continue to denigrate my yacht and what I do or don't do on it, I will respond in kind.

That's a big new word for me!

denigrate definition: 1. to say that someone or something is not good or important: 2. to say that someone or something is not good or important.

I personaly feel you are the one that does that. Your stating why would you need a holding tank , why would you take a pre-purchase survey , why pay full comprehension insurance.

It's personal choice , if you want a black poo bucket that's your choice. I'm not denigrating you.

Hi Southace,
He does make it personal and his winning is more important than sharing knowledge.
My holding tank is for convenience ( not because of legislation) , just as Cisco is happy with the convenience of his bucket. My guests on board seem happy with my choice. I'm happy. My guests are happy, and we all go sailing.
Beware Cisco lurking somewhere on the legislative holding tank thread. Oh! And did I mention he has to win. Sad really

Hey Cisco, cool it. You are behaving like a "lady" from Married at First Sight on Ch9.

The OP was about technical issues. Not opinions, not legislation, not whether or not you need a holding tank. If you have something technical to add, please do it. Otherwise start your own thread on using L Francis Herreshof's poo bucket.

These are not statements; they are questions which invite discussion.

My opinion is that many people hold onto these things as their "Charlie Brown security blanket" or because they think that everybody else is doing it so I better do it too, i.e. herd mentality.

Re:- Denigration.
You have called my yacht "a trailer sailer with a fixed keel" so I will call your yacht "an overloaded ego statement".

From your comments in general one can be forgiven for assuming that you regard anything less than "The Mighty Icon" as being completely inferiour and not worth consideration by a real sailor.

Into that bag of yours we have to put S&S 36,34 &30s, Spencer 30s, Doven 30s, Magpie 34s, Currawong 30s, all the Lotus designs, Peterson 30s, Catalina 31s, H 28s, Duncansons & Swansons less than 42 ft, Tophat 25s and many other designs owned by many members on the forum.

Is that the full breadth of your insults or is there more??

Your self agrandising is pitiful and detracts from the general quality of the forum.

If you want to keep going I am happy to accomodate.....or.....you can retract your previous derogratory comments as I will do with mine.

The ball is in your court southace. Are you going to grand slam it back or just tap it over the net??

Anyway has anyone seen the new model TMC loo? They have added a gas strut style lid to prevent the lid crashing shut ,
I'm not a real fan as I found myself trying to force it down due to ten year habit. That's the last changes I would of thought need modifying!

I did not re-name my current yacht for some reason, I kinda liked it. I just added the mighty bit becouse she feels mighty bigger than my Dunc 37 I built.
What have you named your nice little lotus or haven't you got to that stage of thought yet?

I'm confused ? When By sharing my experiences I'm putting others down? This topic is about holding tanks and tmc loos , you come marching in as always saying they just complicate yachts and a bucket or porta potti is all that's ever needed.....how is my topic putting others down? If you don't fit the topic don't comment.
