Ok it wasn't today it was yesterday. Sailed up the coast to Geroa, Westerly freshened so headed for home. Only about 1 mile off the coast, two reefs in the main and a few turns on the headsail. Flat water but plenty of breeze. The SS tube that holds the turning blocks for the self steering gear control line bent in slightly. Just enough for the shackle pins to catch on the frame of the gear and bend the gears tiller and also bend the alloy push rod. Video shows the gear disconnected. All that was needed was a spectra brace and all this drama could have been prevented. Something to repair during the week.
I had to hand steer!
Just experimenting loading a video with out using Youtube.

Video took way too long to load.

Yes I tried using Photo bucket instead of Youtube but I think its a waste of time. The quality is not as good as Youtube either.

The anchor is from captain cooks old boat although it's a beast the secondary has gone missing and I would just prefer to make it bullet and idiot proof!

Went to go fishing with my boys a few days ago and noticed a strange noise from the motor. So lifted the engine box and saw the front fuel injector was leaking. Shut her off and saw the bracket was cracked in half. Luckily i had a spare in the boats collection of bits and pieces so did the repair while the boys fished off the mooring.

The only disappointment for me is it already conected and the way its made you cant remove the compressor from the ice box.
But Ill work around it would have been easier to install just make it a bit harder

The ice box when fitted realizes on the ice box corners to support what ever weight thats in the ice box is carried by the corners to what ever lower bench top you fit . I'm making a ply wood bench top to carry the weight of the Engels then add my Corian bench top on top and screw the Engels lid to the Corian and hinge it

Photos after I* opened the packaging this is the MB40V -A which means it can have the compressor moved to a remote location but only by a 1 meter may be 1.5 meter There is no hinges you supply your own when you fit your bench top. The fridge lid screws to your bench top and thats hinged Dinner time just finished work
Oh yes forgot put a 3 liter milk in there so you could visualize how deep it is

Nice video thanks Ramona Ill check out his other up loads

Ive been working back every night and might have to work Saturday But I only have to to cut out the ply wood bench top to fit it also make a mount for the compressor Ill try and glass some thing in before Saturday and cut out the ply wood bench top. and throw some wires and a fuse. Should not take to long. Might not look pretty but it will cool a few drinks for now.

Sorry I am going to use some Cabots satin clear I have here Andy on those old louvered doors
Im still not clear on how to mount the fridge yet.

The ice box has four of these steel brackets that take the weight , So I only really need mounting points to the cabinet which is 600 wide and the fridge is 500 wide leaving 50mm either side. I am thinking along the lines of a piece of wood 90 degree epoxied to the cabinet either side and some from of mountings attached to fix the fridge to.

So I am thinking of 4 pieces for timber two for either side and make a 90 degree join on each side (glass and screw them)epoxy and screw those to the cabinet and then deal with the mounting to the fridge. some thing like a wood V so it catches the mounting point and screw the fridge down on to that on all four corners. I can shim the the fridge to the right height so the lid will sit flush with the bench top when part of the fridge lid is attached as part of the bench top .

Fitted the new BEP power distribution panel and battery monitor.
Looking forward to tearing out all the dodgy wiring and chucking the old board out over the long weekend.
The plywood insert is temporary for the engine hours instrument.
