The wind tower is slowly coming together and I got a new crew member....meet Trim guys!
I sat and looked at it again.
Im thinking both how can I increase air flow ( im in the tropics )
In the cabin and I need to combine that idea with fly screen doors.
Mozies are a big danger here too.
And im starting to wonder if it be smart to put a second bilge in.
I look a lot
Lived in PNG for 15 yrs....Best defense against mossies etc is airflow, keep under fans etc.
They can"t fly against the air flow. The added advantage is it keeps you cool.
So add enough solar/battery for cabin/cockpit fans and the bintangs will keep away and you will be nice and cool.
Next I will replace my new 2000 watt inverter with a 3000watt and hopefully then I can run my Aircon and coffee machine from my 1000amp battery banks.

With A 3000w inverter, you are looking for trouble unless you have some good electrical engineering. Your battery bank will not like a high constant load of air conditioning. You are talking hundreds of amps DC which will develop a lot of heat unless you have substantial wiring. A 3000w inverter for under $400.00, I would not touch in a fit if you want to run electronic devices, I would question how pure the signwave is. I have a 3000w Mastervolt inverter charger with over 1000ahs of battery's which I will not run the 2400w toaster or jug on as it gives the batteries to much of a hiding. I have a 10kva generator which I run for all my high current devices. You should consider the same. I use a quality 1800w Xnatrex inverter ($1,500.00) in my caravan coupled to a 300ah Lithium battery which will run most domestic appliances without causing any problems. If you do what you want to do, you will be lucky to get 12 months out of your batteries. This is my game and I have a good idea what I am talking about, so do proceed with caution.
Yeah I can go without the aircon....we did use to run a split system on a 2kva Honda allowing us to shut the main generator down on the barge I worked on.....
unfortantly my 2kva won't quite get the compressor turning over on my current aircon.
i have looked into a larger built in genset as I have the room but have decided to go against it as I prefer silence at anchor.
if the Silentwind works out I may invest in No2 on the port side this will give me approx 14 amp charge in 15 knots and 15amps charge from solar so hopefully I won't even need the 2kva Honda anymore!

What ever happened to air scoops!
Speaking of ventilation . Ive filled in my forward hatch so the gel coat cracks it was starting to have will no way ever leak water into the deck core plus the other bonus is my hatch . Plus the original hatch when open would land on the Muir anchor winch
This photo was this morning Ive since sanded and re coated the area with mix of Boat Cote epoxy and sanding filler mix.

They simply don't work when there's no wind and it's 43 degrees. :)
I saw these at the boat show and they seemed to put out a nice cool flow. Anyone tried one? Probably not that good for humid climates.

opening facing forward South Ace catch the breeze off the anchor
Ill sand it back tomorrow to green yet
Finally the deck can be prepped and painted but Ill eave the painting till a few other jobs are done like the hull sides

And.....im going to cut the keel....from 7ft down too 1 ft.
Im in and around shallow reefs...many un mapped.
Im over running a ground and ive been studying polyneasia sail boat history and keels were a no no.
Im open to others though on this...because once its cut...its gone forever and this is my home and business

Just remember when you add a second bilge and no keel you run the risk of more than running around and more to do with ripping your hulls to bits. There's a good example of one a few boats up from me Chopes Bro . Both hulls have no bilge at all ripped off by rocks bit more than bump in the night
Ive fly wires all round except from my cockpit entrance which Ill make at some stage
If mozzies get into my boat they can expect to walk out as they can land on me, but I catch them and pull there wings off miggies are another thing

What it will cost too fix her up how I want.
I can buy one ready to sail better and cheaper.
Im in a world of pain....shes a great boat....I cant think of a future without her.
But cost wise....the solution is cut and update.

Ive started to collect the parts and blocks for my main sheet system as a bonus I get to utilize the sail track area for my instrument pod yet to be finished but will shortly Ill start beefing up the cabin internal area to support the stand up blocks plus some other gear.
Plus it give me more room for a Bimini forward slightly
Probably much the same as the Hanse main sheet system with a single return line back to the cockpit

I used kill rust etch primer and kill rust epoxy white probably not the best finish in the world but I felt I could touch it up easily if needed with either a can of pressure pack or a brush .
Mine turned out a bit orange peely but not to bad I don't have much in the of spray guns and compressors

Nyalic is a great product even if you wanted the leave the boom in Aluminum or even protect you mast paint

What did I do to my sailboat today?
Not quite today but on Thanksgiving day, I sailed her, and I had a ton of fun in Florida:
Me and the crew while waiting for the wind tower to be fabricated finally cut the wash boards in half......I don't understand why the previous owner fitted a full wash board but what I do know is it's a huge improvement now having them in two pieces!
Well bend over and kiss my bank balance goodbye
Chopes and bro will live....Its against all $$$ logic
But I love my boat
Whats the best battery to buy ? Whats the best anti foul?

Well it took a few weeks, a few beers and a few thousand $$$ but finally we have our new silent wind. Today the blades well go on and the wind and solar will be wired through the hybrid controller,
also the crew took her first steps onto the dock while we checked out the plumb of the tower.

You mean southace ? I am at anchor and reciving 3 amp at times in 5 knots at
Sundown.
during the day I'm getting close to 16 amp including solar in the marina at 10 knots . Will post a video tomorrow!
