The entries are coming in thick and fast now. And with the forecast of promising condititions, this is a must do and see race. Not only do we have competing the "cream of the crop" of Australian Paddling Athletes but an incredible response from the weekend warrior and beginner paddlers.
This will be a very exciting event for all involved. Over $6000 worth of Prizes and Prize money.Stay tuned for all the latest updates on the race!
Just to add to the $6000 worth of Prize money and Product Prizes from Event Sponsor Watershack (www.watershack.com.au) are 1st 2nd and 3rd place trophies in each age group and category. The Product Prizes will be based on a competitors lottery which will see a lot of very happy paddlers receive.
So come on everyone, this race was designed and delivered for all those who have been screaming out for races of this kind. This is the first one of the year on the East so hoping for all to support it in a big way. Doesn't matter if your a beginner paddler or a World Class athlete, its here, come and do it and have fun!!!
rumour on the street is that the race start has or might be put back some time ???? any confirmation?
(trying to organise the family)
there s a clubbie carnival on at kirra on saturday so parking will be tricky.
Also is the preso straight after the race in the park or is there a different venue it will be held at????
thanks
With the wind ESE turning SE and the clubbie carnival, would the race start line be better at Snapper?
A little longer in distance but shorter in time with the down wind rum line!
So where would be a good place to watch the paddlers on their way in,looks like some carnage on its way,oh and time please.
The drain pipe at Burleigh will be the spot , they will probably get away by 11am from Kirra and they should get there pretty quick with ideal conditions , so a good call would be to watch the start at Kirra then drive to Burleigh for the finish.
Thanks Rob,so the finish line is Burleigh beach and the drain pipe beside to slsc or the outlet on the point?
if coming in is going to fun...what about getting out at kirra??? Is it a beach start? low tide by the look of it....
Having a look at the charts can't see that swell isn't predicted to be any bigger than it has been today and having a look at Kirra this arvo, there are heaps of holes in the banks allowing easy access out the back. Coming in at Burleigh will be a breeze for any level of paddler as well.
As an added bonus .... HEAPS OF SUNSHINE ......
It's really going to be one of those days where everything will come together for perfect conditions for everyone to get out there and have blast, whether you have dw once or one hundred times.
Looking forward to seeing this race in full swing on the weekend. It will be interesting to see who comes over the line in each division and I'm SUPer stoked for all the new people giving it a go! Looks like a great start to a racing year on the east coast.

I just drove back past burleigh and had a look at 2nd and 3rd ave. It looks fine, some swell but pretty easy good gaps for everyone to get thru.
