Awesome race. Huge effort by Peasey and the crew who organised it. Super lucky with the wind conditions.
finally we hit the jackpot, a real dw race.
looking back out at the surf we came in through it was big and gnarly low tide stuff
What a great day!!!! Well done to Trav he is killing it in any sort of bump and smashed it today I can see his Travis grant model 12'6 board is going to be a very poplar board. It was so good to see so many people give it a crack today and all the great stories afterwards was as good as the race!!!
Well done to all the SUPSA guys you put on a great day and you should all be stoked with the out come of the day!!!
Jacko
Great fun never really tried proper down wind before , it is really fun gettting those runners , now just have to practice not falling off all the timeAmazed no one come out with a broken board or body! I rekon Peasey and the boys done a great job with the organizing , well done.
what a great event.Im sure alot of other organizers would have called it off because of the swell. Ended up being a true downwind race.cheers to supsa and watershack for a great day
Huge thanks to Peasey, Supsa and the rest of the crew who helped to get this race off the ground! Also thanks to Cribby from watershack for getting behind the club this year and putting up the product prizes for the race.
Good fun downwinder and great to see so many new crew having a go at their first race!
Also good to see the Sunny Coast guys coming down, the Lennox & Byron crew for coming up and also big thanks to Terrene for making the 9hr drive up from the Central Coast to support the race.
Looking forward to next years race already :-)
As a ring in here (longboarder) I came down with a couple of LB breezers to check the action out,we surfed a solid wave down the road from the start of this race and how the hell did you lot get out in the first place.
We expected some serious carnage on your way in which was super challenging on any craft but on a 17 footer come on you guys and girls showed some awesome skill amazing really.
The race sounds amazing. Wish I could have been involved but I am sure I would have got smashed anyway (by the waves and all of the fast guys)
Good work SUPSA and hope to be able to come along in the future.
well done. that was nuts out there today and you guys and girls ripped it up. big effort on a ugly nasty day. congrats to every single person. plus 68? for a race, wow
Fantasic race full of great stories at the finish line by everyone. Getting out at Kirra was very intense and coming in at Burleigh wad the biggest wave I've ever been on! I'm amazed there were only a few broken leggies and no broken sups! Bringing in a 12'6 Sup was enough hard work so credit to those guys on the unlimited boards.
Thanks supsa and everyone involved in the 12 towers race, great work.
Xx Angie
Here's what Trav had to say after his epic win over JM...
(got some interviews with Jamie, Jacko and Angie coming soon as well)
