Just found this on our local newspaper's web site. Video of the race yesterday. I didn't realise how close the finish of the mens was for second place. You can see Woogie coming in and running up the beach with Danny (yellow paddle) in the background dropping his board and losing a place as they crossed the line. You can definately see the need to put a handle in these small race boards if the finish requires a beach run !!

Thank you Sue, I assumed he had a to be a stong paddler to beat Danny and Woogie.

Does anybody else think carrying the board across the finish line is a dumb idea. It looks as if Danny lost a place because the Penetrator is easier to carry. Surely leaving the board on the beach and carrying the paddle across the line is enough.

Where is the actual finishing line , if it's the first set of flags Danny was still in front but there is 3 sets of flags and was it actually offical the boards needed to be carried across the line , either way it was a great finish and a great sprint by Woogie from the water that must have burnt like hell.

Not far at all a 2min barge trip and a 30 to 40 min blast down the beach pending the tide , it likes a East swell.

Any results from the Sup heats today.

Thanks Sue.. More pics please.. ..

Also pics of the comp would be good thanks..

It looks like a real grovel.. .. I agree AA.. They should have held off with the final and run it on another day.. A day with better waves.

Maybe they should have sent the women out today .. .. Is it a double elimination format?.. Do the loosers get another chance?

yep...those results are correct. Noel Graham came 6th. It was very close with a couple points seperating most of the people in the final. Was a lot of hassling going on for waves because there was pretty much nothing. It was a real struggle.

Have to agree. Don't know why they ran the final today especially since they cancelled the men and women pro final's that were meant to come straight after.

Still, was a fun event and got to meet a bunch of new people.

running the finals today was probably just to get it out of the way, although it is a festival of surfing i think the organisers, not the noosa malibu club, still treat it a a second class surf sport, well it wont go away and with the standard of surfing right across the field we are in for some good contest aus wide,so if sup is being planned for a part of a longboard comp give the finalist some credit and run it the same time as the other finals, sup is as spectacular to watch as a good shortboard comp, the crowd today were stoked to see a new sport with so much talent.with sup surfers from 15 to 35 plus in the finals our sport is safe.

There was 1 junior who scored $300 for entering

It is great to see the locally made boards in the final (4) - top 3 places went to local board manufactures. Three boards from the Noosa Surf Works factory.

Also top 3 spots QLDers 4 QLDers in the final

awesome day

apart from the lack of waves

congrats to dane wilson as he was tearing all day long

stand out performances of the day go to

keahi in round 2 absolutely tearing it to bits with the smoothest style all the way to the beach and totally dominating his heat

luke egan round 2 laying down a solid performance on his backhand in tricky groveling conditions

woogie in the repocharge going to town smashing the biggest gnarliest hacks of the comp one after the other sending the critics on the hill wild (very nice work!!!)

casso in the repocharge pulling out all stops and unleashing the lastest move that will take the world by storm "THE CASSO" i exspect casso to do a special sucker cam video to show it off to the rest of you crew in the near future so look out...lol...

and the biggest standouts of the day go to the lovely ladies tanning up a storm on the beach in front of the crew

we didnt see much surfing i'll give you the tip...lol...

Jeez,
You would think that this sport will learn from all those from water sports backgrounds like surfing, windsurfing etc and stop running comps in such poor conditions. Every comp wants a result but no one wants to see that stuff. Imagine how disappointed those who travelled interstate must feel? Its ok to have fun events but wow, are any of them worth taking seriously? What a joke. Better off spending your money on a years foxtel than going up to Noosa as far as the wave comp is concerned. Might as well have pulled out the bush biscuits......

I agree..

It would be different if it was the last day.. but even then they should extend it..

..but to run it in those slops on pretty much the first days is a bit crappy in my book.

Was JB (Mr Naish) there?.. anyone notice?

I think I know the move you are talking about I saw Casso do it on my 9-1 , I went up to him afterwars and said "I don't know if you meant to do that , but it really looked good"

I picked up alot watching and with surfing Keahi , Dogman & Casso these guys really get on there back foot. Casso Dale tells me you could be dropping in on the way back , the boat is fuelled and ready to go to hit our Super Secret Sup spot.

I know Lummers had a new move that he'd be busting to show everyone but he could not have done it in that mushy small surf.
