Well - got the fully guided 2mt tour of the best surf breaks in Aust' today - I had no idea just how beautiful this southern coastline is and how insane the surf is.
Oh - some of the highways are so congested on a saturday (pic 1)
And - never underestimate the strength and usefulness of a handmade bamboo paddle (pic 2)
It was good to see 2 of our latest sup converts out on their newly acquired "tassiesup" boards at Marion Bay today - getting smashed but having a blast. Also 3 new boards ordered this week (all different brands) so some serious competition coming in the near future.
Blown away by the growth and stoke of sup in the south of the state and glad to be part of it.
If anyone in the apple isle is keen to have a go at sup or wants to join us for our regular road trips feel free to contact us - cold water and shltty weather doesnt seem nearly so bad when you're sharing it with a friendly crew.
Some of us are putting together an email account to communicate with the whole of the tassie sup community.
The aim of it is that we have be a bit of a newsletter letting people know whats on, who's got boards to demo, whos got new boards if you just want to have look before you order one, or if you just want to go for paddle or downwinder one day and see who else is keen.
We will also be contacting various suppliers to offer a range of discounts to the group.
If your a supplier or know of one that would want to offer a discount or demo's send a pm
If you are interested pm your preferred email address and we will put you on the email account.
Looks like we wil also keep this post running if you have anything tassie specific you want to post.
Its been an interesting coupla weeks with many of our crew looking to purchase or actually purchasing new sups. The funny thing is that almost all of us have different boards in our sights (or have bought) and it shows just how individual the needs/wants are for such a small sup population. What does impress me is the fact that the sup surfers here are educating themselves on boards and not being a bunch of sheep and just buying whats "in".
Cant wait to post some pics in maybe a month or so when all the new boards have arrived.
Oh - the other noticable thing is how well second hand boards are selling - obviously a sign that the growth of sup in tas has truly begun.
Exciting times ahesd.

Reports in today that Carlton Ri. and Park
were both worth the effort .. both a bit full
but some good rides for SUPs.
Carlton Surf Club has a couple of peaks close by
and these were the best on offer.
Tomorrow will be similar .. maybe
If the swell drops off a bit there could be something
down South Arm way .. don't know about the banks down that way though.
Any reports on South Arm ??
2MT
Will be at Park at 9am Thursday if anyone keen. Will be up nth 2moro so do not wanna know if its good ok !!!
Just received an email from the mainland (Australia) and it now looks like not only tassie sup'ers can benefit from being on our mailin g list. It seems that someone else is very inspired by our mission and they are also in a position to do in the northern states what we are doing down here.
Great to see so many like-minded people working together for SUP and SUP'ERS - I bet if sup as we know it was around in the 70s, it would be exactly what we are trying to make it right now - FUN - AFFORDABLE - AND VERY GROOVY BABY !!!!
A little birdy tells me that "he who shall not be named" has purchsed a Mctavish 9ft sup
If it's true, he's gunna cop some serious Mcshlt from certain wrongboarders methinks
For those of you who may be interested - the pics of the fourby on the sand track are taken on the way back from the pictured break below. I personally haven;t surfed it (way too windy the last time we were there) but very much looking forward to it.
