Yes JB they are defintely milking this for all its worth - lets hope nothing happens in this event The fall out would be huge. There was a bloke on te radio this morning discussing MF odds from one of the sports stations. The bloke has never ever mentioned surfing before !

Between waves?

Only just flicked it on and looks pretty good when they come through.

Anyone know the forecast?

Nick Carroll reckons: Surf. The event should get off to an OK start thanks to a vertically shearing low pressure passing directly south of the continent on July 6. The fetch from this low should produce a well directed pulse of SSW swell for the bay on July 6/7, though a fair bit of it may come overnight. Winds should be fine, SSW offshore/sideshore. This may be followed by a glancing blow from a following storm that’s packing plenty of wind but might just be a little bit too WSW-angled to filter in much for Supers etc. (This storm is gonna blow Indonesia up nicely by the way.)The window then looks to shut for several days, so get ready to see plenty of shots of pros cuddling baby lions etc. Longer term charts do signal the development of a very big storm far to the WSW of southern Africa around July 12. If this storm moves well for J-Bay, you’d expect the last two days of the waiting period to cop something pretty substantial. If it flattens out and bends west-east, the event is gonna struggle.

It defintely seems to be more consistent than earlier Love Pete's informative commentary as Steven Sawyer falls on take off "that was a mistake" Thanks Pete

I think they should interview that old guy - the last hippie - who that short movie was about a few months back. That would be epic.

The waves look really fun today. Not often you see JB so glassy. I would love to surf it like that. Heaven.

Yeah he is not perfect - but he gives some good technical advice and is not afraid to call a good wave - I find Pottz never puts his balls on the line. PM seems to be happy to give a good solid opinion. I like that in a commentator. Clearly he loves Josh Kerr though

Interesting..

beachgrit.com/2016/07/j-bay-mix-up-your-turns-worm/

Intro below,

It’s like every guy wants to win the same way. No one trying to draw a different line. Coach mentality. Win at any cost and the fans pay the price.J-Bay’s so fast, so much opportunity to wind up for something huge. Throw some improv. Instead I’m watching high talent choreography. Everything pre-planned, nothing off the cuff.
