I've had a light moment

Why don't whales and dolphins attack humans? You know we all sit out there and if we see them whales or dolphins we look in ore at how cool they are and not worry one second of fear they will come eat us like a shark.

Funny you say that. I watched a bunch of dolphins pass near some surfers off Merewether a few months ago and hiding in behind them was a shark. I dont think one of the surfers saw it.

This morning when I was paddling my ski, a bunch of dolphins came straight for me and the first thing I thought was where is that shark?

Yep,on my local beach,he was swimming, the Westpac chopper has just left,no details whether it was a local bloke or not.
just a couple of weeks ago a dolphin washed up behind that beach with chunks bitten out of it,I better go surfing somewhere else for a while,it's getting a bit close to home!...
Edit:just heard he was a 65 year old on a surf ski....

As above/below...seriously time to reconsider shark protection...wasn't due to consideration of being an endangered species...claimed by marine biologists...time to take the farkers off the list...obviously!!!

The Blackhead biter has been identified as a juve GW, the same as the bite that happened at Salty earlier in the year....these 2 locations are in site of each other...could it be the SAME? shark? ? ?

They have tagged something like 250 juveniles and estimate there is a 1000 lapping the east coast.

Could it be the same, sure it could but there are heaps of them around and a solid breeding ground 100km ish south and they move north so that area would be well populated.

Went to Byron Bay 10/9 to 18/9.
Kook on a SUP, I kept to the end of Clarkes, away from everyone.
Plenty out at the Pass, didn't feel sharkey at all.
With the numbers out there, odds have to be good you won't get bitten.
Went out every morning and afternoon, had a ball.
Too busy getting hammered by the board or the bottom to worry about big fish.
Got spooked one morning paddling outside the break, very deep, clear water, lots of fish.
Ran away.
Lots of fish in the water, last day I was there whales in the bay.
Just lots of marine life which is a good thing.
Live with it.
Didn't go in the last afternoon with at least 3 whales breaching 500 metres off shore.
Decided there was enough marine life without me adding to it.
Heard Ballina was closed the day I got back to safe, cold, Melbourne.
Would rather risk it at Byron than play in the possibly now up to 13 degree water here

When the owners of shark band chum the water then put the wonderfull shark band on their own leg and sit on the board instead of Burnie the dummy , I will buy one, until that day comes I'll keep watching Burnie

I have heard apparently QLD surfers have been heading south to avoid the crowds also.

www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-02/call-for-immediate-action-to-prevent-shark-attacks-of-nsw-coast/6823886

Club captain of the Lennox Head Surf Life Saving Club and president of the local Chamber of Commerce, Neil Kennedy, said despite all the recent hype about sharks, the school holiday season has still been very busy."Winter is traditionally a slow period for us and we haven't noticed any particular additional slowness because of the situation," he said."The caravan parks are full, what we definitely don't want is a perception that people shouldn't come here because of danger."The community is very well catered for here; the community is doing its best to look after the place and in general our main street businesses are looking forward to having another bumper summer."

It really depends on who you talk to about business though

www.gladstoneobserver.com.au/news/shark-issue-is-frustrating/2797766/

Wayne set up his Ballina business Webster Surfboards six years ago, but he has lived, worked and surfed locally for 22 years. He said in the past months, he has gone from making 20 boards a week to four. He said it was impossible to make plans for this kind of event in a business plan.

I saw a 5 fter coming in though the surf at north burleigh dw ing on thrusday.
When I got closer it took off.

Mind you I was very keen to have very clean ie not fall off , wave coming in.

Cadet clubbies were just heading out too.
I think it was a 'wobby' so I didnt do anything

Ni I havent. I was looking at the coastalwatch reviews they stated if you have any heart conditions , high blood pressure you need to see your medical specialist about it. The systems with electrical fields.

Has put a dampener on it even tho I dont have any problems I still have had a quadruple bi pass so ill would have to see my cardio man first by the looks of it

Cool was curious that's all.
That's just part of the warnings on the product sheets. It's the same for shark shield and many similar products. More of a disclaimer.
