Doggie I dont know you and havent met you and like your passion for surfing and your sense of humour, thing is I know its an online forum but a lot of blokes in here have met each other and have surfed together etc so it gets a bit personal. I just dont understand the Pup bullying thing have you met him. Would you do the same thing if you met someone like him in your local board riders club etc.

No I havnt, but generally people that cant surf dont join boardriders.

well doggie you should go and see a good surf coach to help you out. if you keep at it i'm sure you'll get asked to join a board riders club in time

5 pages of dribble.

No wonder some of the regular posters have dropped off.

Probably 50% correct Mac, I haven't dropped off, but I've dramatically dropped my post count and my reading.

This thread is a good example, this is my first contribution to it because in the same way that I'm blind to red and green thumbs, I also make myself blind to threads that I don't like the content of.

The only reason I opened it was because you were the last poster and I like your contributions.

I'm sure the people who stopped posting are lurking and looking and if they feel that they have a worthwhile contribution to make, they will make it.

+1,

I'd rather read a catalogue for boat shoes

Can't be farking bothered postin in threads like this.....

But I just have, is that ironic... .

Plus another one ^^^^^
If i could delete this bullying thread I would. I started it purely because of a couple of nasty, mean-spirited, very aggressive comments from someone who isn't a longboarder and who mainly comes into this room to troll, bully or try to hijack a thread.
Without the context provided by those comments (deleted by admin at the request of a few people, including me) the reason for this thread is not so clear. It was a well-intentioned attempt to stop the particularly nasty stuff that was being said (and which followed other nasty, creepy weird behaviour that had nothing to do with surfing or fun). I naively hoped that enough of a backlash would see either a voluntary change of behaviour or a forced one. But yes, this thread has run its course (and gone off course).
Admin's laid back approach didn't help much in this case, but it's an approach that makes this place so free and easy the rest of the time. I'm taking a short break from posting, only because I don't want to engage in any BS relating to this.
On a happier note – had a great surf in a bay near my place late yesterday – longboarders, SUPers, clubbies on skis, shortboarders and dolphins all having fun. (Maybe the fact that there were a heap of peaks helped with the vibe). Kids, adults, old farts. Lots of smiles and hooting. It was a great reminder of what it's all about.
Peace out. See you soon.

It's an Internet forum, there will be trolls, white knights, lunatics, ass kissers, cry babies etc...

For some reason the most bullied member of this forum tried to push this thread to the next page by posting around a hundred times in random threads in the early hours this morning from what I can gather. doesn't make sense to me seeing as this is a anti bullying thread, everyone needs to chill and not take things too seriously

I find it amusing how people feel ownership/exclusivity over a free forum.

Do the facebook or similar thing w/ moderated access if you want a private room.

Or marry laurie, become a mod and instill your own set of rules.

I've seen some really good forums destroyed in a matter of weeks by trolls. What can you do when there's unlimited public access?

Bit like getting annoyed at crowded surf ...
