Wasnt today but I had a great couple of surfs on the weekend in Phuket. Totally not what I expected. 3-4 feet fun, glassy beachies, sunny, clear water. 5 people in the water... Stoked!

I was riding a board glassed with Pineapple leaves (seriously)

What beach did you surf mate? & have ya got any pics?

Sorry for the delay.

The beach I surfed is called Ni Harn, it's a super nice little bay surrounded by National Park. It's very close to Kata and you should visit. Kata is kind of what I expected Thailand to be, Niharn reminds of somewhere else... I was pinching myself a little to be honest.

I only have one pic here right now I took of a friends grom I was helping learn to surf.

If you head to Phuket, you should go to this beach, no questions the nicest beach I have seen over here.

I did not think there was that much wind around lacey.
Yep I scored fun ones surprisingly. Stopped in a biku and someone had the day off.

Magic day out on the penguin reef , racked up 6 hours today .

Best winter surf for the year , glassy 3-6 foot .time for a couple of rumbos now to assist the muscle recovery .

Forecast for tomorrow and Monday up to 8 meter swell , rain , snow to 500 meters , 50 knot winds , crazy stuff . will be spending the day indoors .

Own a few guns SP , all safely in the gun safe

Have been enjoying my original gun lately , not that it saw the water today . Took out the Goddard and Jimmy Lewis today . Have the gun set up with quads which will be interesting next time out .

no didn't end up going SP , kicking myself , all the talk was it was going to be at a beach called the back of lighthouse which involved a km walk in . ended up being at Temma harbour which could have driven to . following it online supposed to be 50 knot winds and mast high waves , would have been unreal to see .
was reading about the competitors in the comp , supposed to bring the top 6 , ended up having to bring in the third reserve as all those above him were out injured - wonder why going out in conditions like today .

checked out the ocean here this morning , is big but not massive ,very churned up . I think the real big stuff is coming late this afternoon / tonight , check out surf forecast - northwest Tasmania -mini bluff - where our weekend shack is , 8 meter swell , wave energy 20 something thousand ( normally over 100 is a good fun surf for me ) 60 knot winds

Ohhhhhh It it so fun when you get it right..so bad when you get it wrong , in 50knts and big seas...unless your sponsored, its all about gear preservation and caution...had some big swims when it goes wrong.

On a side note..had a great two hour surf in 2-4ft at my local this morn..
had the yips on the drop to start with then got it together, awesome long drawn out rights, with some steep short lefts for good measure

Madness. Not sure I would want to catch a small plane like that in those winds - yuck.

Well done to the poor cameraman and ski driver - I bet they took a few pastings in less than ideal conditions
