turned up to the local to see 3ft and some bigger pure glass...that was just slamming into the sand banks so asea and i watched people struggling on the paddle out getting smashed. got a surf check of mac for lm and was told it was rubbish also...i then laughed at asea on how many good ones mac and i scored yesterday as he hit the snooze button hahahahaha
Best surf of the Easter break this morning.....this is turning out to be one of the best w/e away trips for a long time.....will post a couple pics when I get back to real life n an Internet connection capable......hope you all getting some. Must say that after the big swells of a few weeks back that stole so much sand off all da beaches you really need to hunt to find those spots that are even breaking on the higher tide. Have found a couple of gems the last few mornings whilst just a few km's away there are 20 plus blokes in the water
Had some great shoulder high waves today, couple of short barrels too. Was good to get a proper feel of the Mardi Gra & an idea of how strong it is when a guy pulled in & out of a wave, his rail kissing just inside my rail giving me a little pressure ding. But I was expecting a fracture. So its got a bit of strength considering how super light it is...But I think I'll buy another board for the Bali trip just in case. Was going to take my Mal as a 2nd, but I'm not sure I want the hassle. Its heavy enough without all the additional safety packaging.
How was the other side PUP, I didn't look today?
shark tower this morning with a few of the boys on a very fullish day, then in the late arvo, an hour on my own at the local point in some fun teeny tiny tidlers before MR turned up for the last hour before dark and we practiced dropping in on each other and generally having a good laugh.
Fun day.
Iwas goint to stalk the greenroom celebreties with my favorite paparazzi photographer but the traffic at cooly was just plain stupid, then I found the nicest little "secret spot" today.
nice work Kadi......here are a couple from the weekend - not had a chance to go through them yet but here is a small taste of what I found. Just screen grabs as I have left my hard drive at home so they are all very low res. Best w/e of waves I have had away for a long long time....hope you all got some.
Stuk - the swell was missing that spot and the banks look pretty poor there as well. Its amazing how much sand has gone missing.
Friday - Just down from Winki 2-3 foot, 3 waves in 2 hours, got dropped in on 10+ times, 40+ dudes in the water
Saturday - Just down from Winki 2-3 foot, 10 waves in 2 hours, got dropped in on once, 40+ dudes in the water
Sunday - Just down from Winki 6-8 foot, 15+ waves in 2 hours, no drop ins, 6 guys in the water
Monday - Just down from Winki 2-3 foot, 15+ waves in 2 hours, no drop ins, 15 guys in the water
True tho
Pup you would have had a blast out there today, great crew everyone sharing and some calling party waves, good fun.
^^^ Oh you've been working mate, well you didn't miss anything & there's not much round today. Might pick up a little between 9&10 with the tide if your keen for a paddle.
well I got a bonus this morning at "The Cut" down near Mandurah ..... 3 to 4 foot with the odd shoulder coming through but the big one was only 2 out for a couple of hours farken couldn't believe my luck
Then the devil North blew it away ... geez it was a nice little surprise stoked
A kiwi mate of mine surfed in Dubai a couple of days ago as he stopped by on route to the UK and sent me this. You been here yet Tux? I haven't - think I would be keen to give it a go as it sure doesn't look too crowded The sweet potato would love it out there!
"I had to surf a reef board as all the rental fishes were damaged or snapped but i managed to get a couple of waves and through a vid together....I recommend taking your own board up there as the wave requires something more fishy to make the most of the sections it throws up and you cant rely on the rentals as they only have 4 boards and only 2 of those are proper fish dimensions
