yeh i agree thats some air and for you lazy ppl skip to 2:00 then you'll see some air that u poleies wouldn't even think of.
just accept that kiting is untill your over 60 so you retire and take up windsurfing

That jump has more in common with parasailing than kite surfing. Parasailing is something tourists do while they are on holiday. I'm not sure if you realise that.

This is for Wet Willy, Crazyjockey, Windwarning and Al Mcleod.
Yes it is another Ruben Lenten video, but this is much better.
Not only does he go higher, but further and with much, much more power, these jumps make windsurfers' jumps look like childplay.
If you don't want to watch the whole thing, the good stuff is at about 2:20.
enjoy :D.

www.rubenlenten.com/videos/35/LEN10_in_Cape_Town_movie.html

also enjoy this... just one jump.

That dosn't even look like a jump. It looks like he is getting thrown around in the air like a teabag so it is not technically a jump then is it

It's just like going paragliding in a storm and getting thrown around in the air. That doesn't make it cool. In fact it looks like he is having a seizure in the air.

I'm not saying it's cool... i'm just saying it's better :D.

It in fact looks like he's doing a massive, powerful kiteloop, where he gets pulled up and downwind in the same way a windsurfer does in his jump.
Also, sounds to me like you only watched the youtube video, where it does look a little like that... watch the other video i posted, the youtube one was only to show some real height.

Exactly, kites dont jump they loft. Look at a windsurfer jump, you can then hop on any other board sport and jump in a similar manner. Try that in the way a kite does, the only thing that does similar to a kite is wakeboards where they load up.

sorry to be the one to spoil the news for you but windsurfers loft aswell .
If you hadn't noticed but you guys actually lift your sail so that it's horizontal in the air, acting like a kite to hold you up and loft around in the air.

Oh, so the kite is the one doing the trick, then?

And actually, a windsurfing sail is more like an airfoil, whereas a kite is more like...a parasail.

Thats why when we go into the air we don't flail around desperately.

Can someone explain HOW this is a loop ?
vertical rotation is a loop ?
horizontal rotation is a spin ?

As soon as kites can loop end over end I'm sure a few more people will sit up and take notice.

Wind worrier i agree................. TOBBII AS FOR YOUR big boost, i think he was stoking as he nearly landed back on the beach .......Yes it was big ???
As for his wave riding on a twin tip ??? ,,,,well he got an arial on the outside section and landed on the inside shore break and wasted the 10 waves in between and claimed it as a wave ride ?

Thats right we do, but it is not how we jump in that we don't jump by being pulled into the air... thats what makes a loft. Oh wait kiters do jump- they do that little hop into switch stance or whatever name kites call it.

waveriding on a windsurfy looks like some old kooky man on a 10ft mal, really struggling to get the rail into the wave. it just doesnt look like surfing. youtube "ben wilson"... tell me that isnt better than surfing. powered turns, bigger spray and air.

Why is it that when kiter's start posting on windsurfing forums that the thread quickly degenerates into a "mines better than yours discussion"?

Do windsurfer's troll on the kitesurfing forums?

I'm for one sick of the crap that pollutes a "windsurfing" forum.

What a lot of bull**** in comparing kite related jumps with sailboarding jumsps. The behavoiur of a kite in jumping is more akin to hanggliding/paragliding with and throught the wind, as opposed to a sailboard which is based on wind strength, wave size and steepness and, of course, the sailboarders' ability.

Also, when a sailboarder makes a "big jump", of say, 6 - 10 metres, they literally fall from the sky with gravity making the descent fast. Most kiters I've seen generally float back down, the kite acting as a parachute.

It's like comparing the proverbial "apple to the orange" - totally unrelated.

Let this topic RIP.
