The preferred nice SE winds are usually (but not always entirely) starting to switch off in mid March. But it can be great on almost any wind direction if the other conditions of level and weed are good. I would say, if there looks like being some wind forecast you should definitly have a look.

Will do. Plans not set yet, only an idea that has been in the works (not the sailing side). Trip east the up to Qld. Kit optional.

Looks like Jimbob is on the right side of the "naughty / nice" list this year with Santa delivering some nice wind over festive season

I just don't want to take kit with me if I can't use it. Looking at 8-10000kms. Will see.

Dave, Dave, Dave ....
Take the kit and make the route fit the spots. There's plenty up the east coast. If the kids have to sit on mums knee to fit all your gear in, that's just the way it goes

Well you are fast, there's no argument there.. but wise????

i don't want my kit cooking for a month road trip and not see water. It will be a minimal kit not like Leeman trip. 2+2.

We we don't even have a route planned

I just received an email from John, the DEWNR area manager in the Lake George district. He reports that the last water level from the Big Lake on Dec 22 was 0.117m ADH.

Looking at he historical records, that appears to be similar to, or slightly higher then, the levels in the years 2012 and 2013 at the same time, when the season levels were excellent for us.

Historical plots suggest that the levels in the Big lake seem to be comparable with the Middle lake, at least for this time of the year. (Middle lake on left)

From memory, I think the best levels for us in the middle lake in 2012 and 2013 were around -0.5m or perhaps slightly lower..

This suggests to me that, unless we get a lot of water inflow in the next month, and we get normal summer evaporation rates, water levels will be similar to, or slightly higher than those of 2012 and 2013 in Jan/Feb 2018.

John said that the Big Lake station has a water level sensor that is working but the logger is broken so we cant get live updates at the moment. The best they can do is manual readings. and he will try to get an update of the current level and see if they can get regular manual updates over the next couple of months.

Boombuster and I are currently in discussion with Dylan from KA72 about setting up a group in KA72 to record and compare results for sailors on Lake George for the Jan to April 2018 season . There are two options:
- A free group with results tables limited to 6 panels OR
- A entree fee group ($10 per participant) which gives potentially much more flexibility (eg daily and cumulative results for the season, across the 6 gpstc disciplines, plus age and gender grouping etc). KA72 would handle the registering of and payment by group members
This would not be a competition, but a simply way of comparing results on the lake by participants from multiple GPSTC team members. The only prizes would be bragging rights.
We prefer the added flexibility of the entree fee option and have asked Dylan to confirm what is possible. I will post upon receipt. Feedback from potential particpants is welcome
