Whoever designed that tandem really knows what they are doing, and the things I am referring to are not obvious unless either direct experience, very deep thinking, or both are involved. I'd like to know more about the history behind it.
It does not appear to be very small. It has a lot of volume and width for a speed tandem. Not necessarily a bad thing at all. It would certainly make it more user friendly for a couple of extra large men like AA and CB. It appears to be quite short though.
Looking at it I am surprised that AA and CB didn't crack 40 knots on it. I guess it was the first run they made and maybe the only one so far. If they have a good crack at it I would be very surprised if they don't get into at least the low 40's
. I thought it might have been a mechanism to adjust the cant of the fin...

Christian Bornemann. They changed 7 times .Now is Christian Bornemann in front.45,57 kots. Patrik Diethelm got 4 fins from me. 17 18 19 and 20cm Rake 30°.
He said,I have many fins from.................... If he my fins use? I cannot say.
I saw that Matthias Röttcher used a fin from me,the 20cm Rake 30° and a board from
Patrik. He made 46,94 knots. May be that Patik comes on the idea to use my fins?

What are the rules about aerodynamic clothing etc....in skiing/cycling they wear speedsuits that are one piece lycra and also aerodynamic helmets...not sure if this could help but if they are talking .1knot or so as being the difference between a winning or losing time, perhaps so...even leg shaving? 
I guess most of the person is covered from the wind by the sail but would there be any drag associated with the human form which could be eliminated?

Winds are expected to pump in over the weekend and into mid next week, coarse should be a lot quicker. I can see the past records being smashed if all goes to plan. Here is what Jurjen posted....

Very interesting to see Ander's sail looking a lot flatter in the bottom third than AA's NP Evo5. Might be just the angle?
also interesting is the mast base positions both bang in the centre, maybe the baords are designed such that the flat-water-speed-sweet-spot is right in the middle of the mast track, but don't you usually move it forward when the water is super flat but windy?
Read elsewhere that Anders didn't get a mast when he got his new Evo 5s so tried a Simmer mast up the NP (Zara's or Farrel's no doubt) but found it didn't work at all. Later he was able to borrow an X9. Maybe the photo is of it set with the simmer mast. The photos of him on the canal show it much fuller.

for the last 2 days A², AB and Cédric Bordes have been working on the canal with the organizers to make the run better, next three days are going to be epic !!!
Still some good speeds from yesterday, so its looking epic when they start late tonight.
The speeds are starting to come in. Allready another new record and a lot if guys closing in on 50!! Big day ahead.
A2, now up to 50.78!! I can see 51-52's by the end if the day. Wind allready above 40knots.
