Are we going to have to start a new thread, "beechmere blowhards"??????

You could be onto something there Pete, maybe even a "Turner's Tryhards" ..............

We are merely broadening our options and giving increased incentive for people to learn to tack or gybe properly so the jelly fish don't eat you. Lucky Jeff wears a full length wetsuit or he'd have no legs by now. Brad almost lost a foot yesterday, that'll teach him.

Cripes I'd hate to see the ray that caused that!

Hi sue
Probably would have survived if I hit a ray but no - the board is called stingray precursor to the fanatic RAY. I hit the oyster beds
Cheers Jeff

Had a sail with some of the sandstone regulars Jeff was on his new board with an 8.5. John was on his magic ride with a 7 metre. Brent was on his techno weather 7.2. I went out on my Go with a 7.8 and when the wind picked up went to my 140 Nash. I sorted out the problem I was having with the seat harness and the harness lines. A 28 lines suit me best I tried 32 seem to be too long and 26 work when I had a waste harness. Great day everybody have a good day even brent after he hit the rocks and had a few little scrapes and cuts.

Yep, classic Sandstone Point afternoon with a 15kn ESE wind, warm water, flat conditions and no stupid jelly fish.

Not quite as windy as the graphs at Sandstone this arvo but still around 15 knots and ramping up by a few more by the time Adam and I packed up. Adam rigged a 7.8 on his 140L Naish and used that for a bit before switching back to the 150L Go both with big 56cm fins. He was fully powered and hammering. I went the other way and used a 6.1 wave sail for bottom end grunt and the small 44cm fin on the Magic. I was a bit underpowered at first and then making good controllable power when Adam started to get overpowered. The Magic is definitely a more stable board with the big 52cm fin and can be pointed and planed upwind a lot further too so I'll be back using the big fin in future. Some big runs around the nasty oyster reef and out into the bay and also plenty of blasting around in front of the beach, great afternoon sailing Sandstone with conditions about as good as it gets, not too crazy but enough wind to have really good fun.

Jeff and myself sailed at Turner's Camp this arvo in the gusty NE seabreeze with plenty of holes in it. It was around 15+kn at 4pm when I got there and slowly dropped off and it appears the stupid blue jellies have started to invade the passage. I used a 7m sail on the Magic and Jeff an 8.5 on his Shark. I was a bit underpowered as the wind dropped so was coming off the plane into the holes but still having a ball. Jeff was really struggling on the Shark and we both decided that he should try to use his SLW board in more stronger wind before he switches over to the Shark at around 15+ knots of breeze. He came back in and swapped to the SLW board and looked a bit more comfortable anyway. Looking like some stronger northerlies towards the end of the week and into the weekend and the tides are looking good for Phillip Street if anyone's keen to join me and the jellyfish.

I was in the office and noticed the palms flapping and the wind sneaking up so requested a sailing pass off the boss and slipped down to Phillip Street for a peek. Stunning 12+ NNE conditions and p!$$ing down sunburn, I love summer. Rigged my new favourite seabreeze sail (8.5 speedfreak, thanx again Mr Mike) and the Magic for some fun in the sun to see if I could chop up a few jellyfish. A few holes where I just cruised along taking it all in and plenty of ripping runs along the little bay swells ............... happy days! Now it's time to meet the boss down at the RSL for lunch and it's only a Wednesday!

Thanks Mike, it's been a pay cut for a lifestyle gain. Luckily the new boss (wife) is quite happy for me to sail when it's good (as commitments allow of course) and work around the sailing time. I must be a good student, she reckons she should have had me helping her out 6 months ago, this comment may have been influenced by the cracking curry I knocked up last night though.

So Sandstoners, I have had a look at Turners on a flat day, what tides will it be ok in the next few days, where is good to sail in these northerlies, and is anyone going to be there Saturday? (Sorry if I asked before)

You can sail Turner's camp in any tide but high tide is the best time to sail. If you sail low tide you just have to walk out to the sand spit. I will probably be there on Saturday and Sunday just after lunch if there is wind.

Always looking for company :-)
We sail turners camp all tides. On low tide it's about a 200m walk out to the sand spit.

We are also starting to use Phillip street Beechmere in high tides.
Saturday? - reckon if there's wind somebody will be sailing - I've got Xmas parties to go to

Cheers Jeff

OW, there's no way a curry would even make it out the door of this household, let alone make it to a courier company.

PWB, watch this space. I'm out for sunday but I'd be thinking Jeff or Adam or someone would be sailing sunday. Saturday is looking good, dunno if i'll go to Turner's or give Phillip Street a try on the high tide. Either way someone will put something up on here. Turners is good on the high tide because you can sail straight off the beach at the carpark or low tide because the water is really flat and protected but you have to walk and launch from the end of the sand spit. In between when the water is running it can get a bit rough with some compression waves. Philip Street is best on high tides for less walking and any wind from NE through W to SW (offshore/cross shore) if it's much over 12 knots or any wind direction for less than that if you're on a windsup or raceboard or longboard. See you on the weekend if you make it up our way.

Jeff's just posted in the time it's taken me to write.

Both days on the weekend you could do the high tide rigging up at pebble beach and walking up to beach to the headland, you get compression of the wind around the headland and some smooth water for speed runs. Not sure if there are any old timers who were sailing there back in the 80,s or 90,s but that's were we would go. Better still head around to Woorim with the afternoon outgoing tide which looks to be a great weekend for that side of the island.

Superb blasting day at Phillip Street today. 15+ knots of NNE wind gives cross shore conditions and only a foot or two of chop and swell. I only sailed for an hour but it was without a doubt the best sailing I've had in my 1 year of windsurfing. Just me and the jellyfish again. 7m sail on the Magic today.

Howdy Mal, Adam and myself are thinking of sailing Phillip Street Beachmere on the Saturday high tide if you're interested. I'll give Bones and Ballast a buzz to let them know, if it's too bumpy here then we can just drive over to Turner's Camp. The wind has been coming in here about 11am for the last 3 days so we'll get a few hours sailing in with these tides. I'll post something up here when we have a plan.

I'm heading to Beachmere tomorrow at high tide and then Turner's camp on Sunday at high tide if there's wind.
