Heading to the lake on the full moon weekend if u r still there Pete. Planning to do big km,s. Missed bongaree on Sunday to head down to join the bayside sailboard club.. Awesome venue at manly RQ yacht club for regular slalom racing round marks. Have a rookie division and also Gps days and can participate in those anywhere in the bay if you join and log in to KA 72.. Well worth looking into it as the $70 membership includes insurance.. And the venue is not so tide dependent and suits beginners up . Lots to learn and lots of quality sociable sailors to watch and learn from.
Remember they don't allow thongs past 7pm at the gym ....................
Bahhaha!!!! After 7pm, I won't be at the gym,and I will have no shoe's on, AND,
Lalalalalallala ............... don't need to know ......................
Took interested gentleman Parso down to Sandstone for a go on the BIC this morning on the last of the tide. It was stunning out there this morning, only 5-10 knots and like glass. He did well and was able to cruise up and down the length of the beach twice and just jump off, turn around and uphaul to change direction. All that uphauling knocked him up a bit just like it did for all of us once.
Thanks for the experience John. Thoroughly enjoyed the intro & more properly appreciate the steep learning curve ahead! Was surprised how buggered I got so quickly, that's early retirement for you. Also sporting small egg on forehead after emergency exit - must have smacked mast, boom, board, all above???? Probably best to spare your gear! Enrolled at RQYS at Easter otherwise it's back to Youtube learner vidz. Cheers

well done Parso you have made a start - it takes courage.
Lot of good learning days between now and Easter. You not going to get any fitter watching youtube.
Yes enrolled at RQ is a fantastic move.
I would encourage you to push on with having a go - it can only help get you up the learning curve.
We can downsize sails untill your fitness improves. Between Pads and myself i recon we have you covered
You have made a start - keep going .... it only gets better.
Cheers Jeff
Big thankyou to Pads for passing it on and helping out a newbie
Cheers Parso you're welcome anytime. Like Jeff says there's only one thing to do to get sailing fit and that's sail.
You know the deal Jeff. Yourself and Pete got Adam, myself and Josh into sailing and so we owe it to you to do the same for anyone else.
Any body get wet?
Pete and I had a sail everyday at the lake. Plenty of wind at times.
Should have been there
It was not too bad actually. Only around 15kn at the most so we all sailed with 8.5m sails, Jeff wished he had rigged his 9.5 but that's pretty normal for him to be using something 1m bigger than myself and Adam. Still a bit of weed/grass in the water though. Jeff started out on his new 135L Tabou but didn't like it so much so Adam pinched it and loved it. Jeff ended up on his SLW to finish off his day. Tomorrow is forecast to be better so we'll be back there again if anyone's keen. There was a rather seedy looking gentleman jogging in his speedos which had Adam and I hitting the road quick smart so we left Jeff tiptoeing to the toilets in his sluggos to stir up the 'locals'.
I need water, salt water!!! Thursday should be the day.
I have a race board. Thanks Tony.
Speed SR250L. I have sailed one of these back in the day, and I'm so keen to re-live that.
Can't wait.
It's already 10+ northerly here at Beachmere this morning. Even though the tide and wind should be perfect for a Beachmere blast I'll hang out till afternoon at Turner's if anyone else is keen. Forecast is for it to keep building so should be pretty good.
JV Jonno, Jeff, Adam and myself sailed Turner's again this arvo, bit more wind today but more gusts and lulls too so even though I was on a 7m that was at max power in the gusts, it was a little underpowered when I hit the holes. Adam used a 7.8 which was perfect and Jeff used an 8.5 which had no problems tossing him into the water fairly regularly, he's not happy on the Tabou board yet. Late on when the tide dropped and the water flattened off, the wind really started to come in and Jeff abandoned the Tabou again for the JP SLW and looked to be heaps more comfy and was flying along with JV Jonno whilst Adam and myself packed up. Looks like another day of northerlies tomorrow, yeehaa.
Trying to get a couple of thing's done early as I can in the morning. Want to spend as much of the day as possible.
Wind is just starting to come in here now but only 10kn, looks like the central bay is 15kn already so it should come in to Turner's after lunch and build through the afternoon if anyone's keen to join Darren and myself.
Another cracker of a nor-easter here at the lake today, that makes about four in a row.
The guys from Borden point drop on and I sail with them. I have to share my disappointment at the shoddy workmanship of my gaastra harness. After having fastidiously maintained and repaired it whenever necessary it repaid me, after a mere 22 years by breaking!!! Can you believe it??
What an unreliable piece of junk Peter, maybe you should try another one to make sure. Darren has been proudly showing off his new seat harness today, complete with sliding hook doover thingo.
Similar conditions for us down here at Turner's Camp, a cracking summer northerly afternoon for day 3 of 'sailfest' for this week. It was blowing the dog off the chain at first so I erred on the side of caution and wasted time sailing with a 5.5, things improved when I rigged a 6.1. Darren has this scam going where he takes forever to rig up, he knows I take no time so I end up being the lab rat for sail choice. He rigged a 5.8 with a couple of cams and went like the clappers.
I had to take off home to cook dinner at 4:30 so Tony showed up at 4 to keep Darren company, we talked him into rigging a 7m sail so I wish I could have hung around to watch if it was outta control, as even though my 6.1 wave sail didn't like the holes too much it was fully powered in the gusts.
Yep the 7.0 turbo was the perfect choice boys , was a fantastic blast on the carve yet again. Loving the seat harness transition.
That was good. Feeling it a bit, after the break with no wind. The weed was a bit frustrating towards the end, but plenty of great run's.
Hey Pete, I have a couple of spreader bar's mate, if you can't let go. One's Stainless. You're welcome to it.
Oh and Paddles..
Yeah Tony, I probably should have used a 7m, looking at the Spitfire graph it started to come back in again after I finished up.

Thanks mate, you wouldn't be able to re-sole a couple of booties too?
Today's breeze was a bit weaker than the past few days, had to resort to the 9.0 after trying the 7.5. Great full runs across the lake on the 9.0. Hoping for enough breeze tomorrow too
Geez Brad, classic "shoulda been here yesterday" situation ...................... and maybe the day before and even the day before that ..............
Early tomorrow arvo, lets keep an eye on Phillip Street, BOM map looks promising.
Heaps of baggage to offload last night. Just got home. But no hangover expected as can,t drink at work.. Sun about to rise so I,m good for some shuteye. See you at beachmere for the arvo high.... Tide.
Another day at the lake, sailed out on the 9 in an ENEand by the time I got to the other side the wind turned around to the north which meant a whole lot of tacks back to ge home in marginal conditions. So for all of you who had to work today- well so did I!!!!!!
