I might go out for a look off The Esplanade. I'm working on Bribie at the moment and it is crazy windy
Golden bch was great, 6.6 and 120 litres the most common gear. I started sailing about 9.30 to beat the low, and at 11 ish it went east for an hour and we were doing loooonng reaches from Gemini to lighthouse. Dead low was a bit twitchy looking for safe long runs as it settled SE and dirty water made it harder to keep water under the skeg.
Definitely worth the drive.

Thinking of braving the heat for the late low tide at turners Saturday and Sunday.
Finally got a modern fat board.
Yep, I'll be keeping an eye on the wind for Turner's over the weekend. Next week should be perfect for Sandstone all week with SE wind and high tides around lunchtime onwards. You sure you're going to be ok on that new board Wade? Next you'll be getting new sails.
You need at least nine sails, four short board's, and two long boards, two or three boom's, half a dozen mast's, a few different extension's, twelve different fin's, etc,etc,etc,etc,etc,etc,etc,etc........ The missus will understand. We can all talk to her if you want.
I hav a theory Dag,
Windier than a 6.6 I go to the wave gear
Lighter than a 8.6 I drink lots.
Unfortunately the drinking means I need more wind for the 8.6 which makes me drink more.
It's a self fulfilling prophecy
Hey Wade, i reckon i will be around saturday and sunday arvo
Me too

Wind is just starting to come in here now so hopefully it'll be nice at Turner's later this arvo. I just pedalled out a quick 35km on the pushy whilst Olivia did swimming training so I'll have a bit of quiet time and head over later on.

Is that your closest pub? How did you get back? Better have a nap.
I might head up and have a look.
Nah, I didn't ride to the "Gym", I just wobbled around deliriously in the heat. It's 15+ here at Beachmere now which means it'll be 10+ at Turner's so we're almost there.

The closest pub that will serve you in Lycra gear
Fun afternoon at Turner's Camp today, maybe 15kn with bigger gusts, with the flattest water ever because of the low tide. I joined Wade, Adam, Tony, Darren and new guy Ron with Jeff dropping in for a sail a bit later. We were all over the place with sail choice, I used my 8.5 and Adam a 7.8, Tony only brought a 7 to use on his WOD and Darren rigged a 7 and Jeff using a 9.5. Wind was perfect for the 7.8/8.5 and then dropped off a little to be spot on for Jeff with the 9.5 and his SLW board. It took him a bit to get going but he got it flying along in the end. Tony debuted his WOD today but no doubt will be back on a short board tomorrow if the forecast Northerly really gets up. Top effort from new guy Ron who dropped in to say hello last week and dusted off the gear to come out for a blast after an almost 20 year break. Our growing bunch of windsurfing mates must be attracting attention as in the last month we've had 3 guys pull the old gear out of the shed to come sailing with us and another 3 guys approach us to try windsurfing for the first time, we must look like we're having fun.
Yep, more sail's on the water hey!
Thanks Adam for the vision of Paddles ordering a beer wearing Lycra.
There's a no lycra policy at our local so I simply put my lycra on and drink at home, the chamois panel in my bike shorts also means I don't have to go to the toilet until wee number three.
It's been blowing 20 at the Cape and the Spitfire all night but has dropped out here through the night. Game on kids, it should be cracking by lunchtime at Turner's Camp, see you all there.
Probably head out in a couple of hours.
Little rangas like me need to hide on days like this so we don't catch on fire.
Awesome day!! Gee, I feel like I've been sailing. That flat water strip is just fantastic fun.
AND, this beer is super cold too! Aaaahhhh!
Another lovely afternoon of northerlies to be shared with the coolest cats in Sandstone. Great to see Rocket Ron back it up from yesterday to make it his first full weekend of windsurfing in over a decade and also to see my old boss and work colleague POB make a surprise visit after a number of months off the water. We were also blessed with the appearance of Pete after his defection to the southside and enjoyed every bit of the sandbar hitting, boom bending entertainment he offered. Just think Pete, if you buy an expensive enough replacement boom it may even get you some more pension now. A bunch of the other regulars (Tony/Brad/Brent/Adam/Wade/Darren/Jeff/Denis/myself/Shawn the kiter) also showed up for a bit of Sunday afternoon delight so we had a dozen of us sailing which is fantastic and equals our all time best turnout of 12 sailors over at Pebble Beach a month or so back.
The flat water on the inside of the sandbar was copping a caning from everyone trying to get good numbers on their GPS devices. Plenty of wind, but as usual at Turner's there were also a few holes so the trick was to rig big and deal with the bomb gusts as they happen. I buggered up and used a 6.1, it was great for about 70% of the time and was still a handful in the gusts, but as usual I wish I'd copied Adam and rigged a 7. Anyhow, hopefully the southerlies will swing back in tomorrow and it'll be back over to Pebble Beach on Tuesday, except if it howls from the north on the high tide tomorrow and I hit Phillip Street tomorrow instead.
Thanks for an excellent weekend of sailing and good company gentlemen.
Great day, all the usual suspects and a a few new faces. I had a mixed day, rigged too small on a 5.6 and went out on the 100l slalom expecting it to build to the forecast - no such luck so after finding the sandbank whilst planing I took the high side slill hooked in and bent and buggered my two year old alloy boom. I switched to the carbon boom and a 125l board and after trying different weed fins had a couple of cracker runs. The wind dropped off but I had a go on Jeffs 7.0 and jp supersport and found the magic. Shoulda rigged bigger..... best part of the day? 11 other mates to share the joy!!!!!
Great number's Wade. That's what it looked like you were doing. So consistent too, over all categories.
