Hello Queenslanders we coming up for September with sups and windsurfers. At home in vic we do not wear life jackets. Do we need to wear them? Boy 12 daughter 11, 8 , 5. The younger 2 do wear them but the others don't any more your thoughts on 11 and 12 year old without life jackets. Are we going to get fined?
I'm 46 and wear one, helps me float, protects my ribs in catapults and I can put mars bars in the front pocket.
Well .................. pushing the 'ethics' of PFD use to one side ............ this arvo is looking to be pretty damn good for Turner's .............. anyone?
I hope you guys got a good sail in, I was scuppered by "management", there were tears and they were mine

Yo Paddles, I took your old 6.1m Firefly for a spin today. Happy days... just one more go , just one more go....
Stick some moisturiser on them overnight and they should feel a lot better..
Hehe, no moisturizer for me. I wear em with pride. Earned em fair n square. 4th day on the water this week. Aaahhh, now back to work for some rest n recovery. Gotta love the aching. Reminds me ive had a cracker sailing sesh recently.

So do I but it stops them hurting..
It's still a few days out, but friday arvo is looking really good for Turner's Camp if anyone is keen
Great afternoon at Turner's Camp this afternoon. Pete got there first and then Adam, myself, Parso and JV Jonno joined him. Wind slowly came in and ended up gusting 15 to 20 in the end which made my 9m sail a bit of a handful till I busted it and packed up.
Super flat water and high speeds.
Great afternoon at Turners, the storm missed us and the wind stayed in. I gave it away after breaking a harness line.
I have shoulder probs so cruised around on a 6.6 koyote and the 75 w slalom but a 7.3 koncept or 7.8 race would have been ideal. Great to catch up with the boys after the lake trip too. Weed was a problem so a weed fin was necessary or stop every 100 m to clear it. Paddles drove his 9.1 rig to disintegration speed. The loud noise I heard was either a sonic boom or the panel exploding. JV was still out when I left at 5.30. Adam was really enjoying the conditions and Mike was out there too. Wouldn't be dead for quids. See what tomorrow brings at either Manly or Vicci Point
It felt quicker with a panel blown out, man alive it made some noise though
I really should have downsized to 7.5 but didn't want to waste time re-rigging, I was well overpowered in the end and am a bit sore from hanging on to it
Lets Rock
10 to one are the odds that you know how to.
Have a spare oils ticket for the big pineapple gig this Saturday Night.
If you are confused you must be the one out of ten..
If you are keen drop an email or give us a call.
Looks like wind for next few days
plans are Rq sat morning and ? Sandstone late or bongaree in the arvo
a ybody. Keen?
Just spoke to John. It was there and it fizzled out. Maybe this arvo. Definitely getting some sailing done over the next few day's though.
Yeah Dag, it blew a bit while those storms were hanging around and now it's calm again. You didn't miss much it was just up and down gusty to 15kn or so good stay on the couch weather.
Rigged 6.5 at RQ this morning - was going to practice non planing gybes - haha
first run out on phantom had me planing and then was able to waterstart with the small sail - no non- planing practice this morning ;-)
came in in and got the shortboard but didn't rerig bigger as I was time pressured. Few good planing runs - underdone on the 6.5. Was holding out for the afternoons predicted winds - joke!
looking forward to see if promised winds deliver over next few days
cheers Jeff
Very windy and miserable day today with rain squalls. Adam, Dag, Tony and The Pope braved the waves off Bongaree through the low tide and then Adam and Tony joined Jeff, Brad and myself at Sandstone mid afternoon when there was enough water. Quite windy with all of us on 5.5m to 6m sails except Adam who thought it was a good idea to rig a 7m ................... bad idea Adam
Tony and myself tried out our new 'small' boards that we both bought for when the wind gets a bit silly like this arvo and had heaps of fun. The waves weren't too crazy at Sandstone so it was quite good even when the wind went a little crazy around 4pm. Good afternoon of mucking around and day two of Jeff's plan for 5 days of sailing in a row
That was a fun session
Started with a 7.0 as well, which was a good choice initially. Went down to a 5.5 after that which was plenty big enough after it came in for real.
Hope those of you with free time,(bludgers) get to enjoy the rest of the forecast winds.
Another testing day at sandstone this arvo
Little less extreme than yesterday
bribie John dags and myself
rigged 6.5 and sailed the shark
dags was on his viper with 5m
day 3 :-)
cheers jeff
High tide sandstone early morning
if the wind holds overnight John and I are keen for an early start
any takers??
cheers Jeff
Bringing a little colour into a wet miserable morning. Giving into peer pressure and rigging small. 5.5 HSM superfreak
Day 4 done!!
A bruising demanding session for the 4 of us. John Adam Darren and myself - Paddles decided to stay under his doona and Tony decide his job was a priority.
Very funny the 4 of us sheltering in the trees by the beach recovering, sitting out the extremes of the gusts, getting the energy to go out and do battle again.
Things settled led down as the morning progressed and the high tide passed.
Some good speeds as a 'keen beginner' practicing bearaways. Now just to succeed with the gybe at the end
Us old men retired as the water disappeared and went home for our 'Nanna naps'
Back tomorrow morning for more
cheers Jeff
