Adam called as I was crawling out of bed, I went out on the deck for a look outside and a wild rain squall came over and that was it, back indoors like a sook for me I'll join you for a sail in the morning though ..................... unless it's pizzing down rain and cold and miserable
Day 5 ;-)
4 of us sailing John, Dags, Paddles on 5.5. I was on 6.5 with the Shark
Less wind than yeastetday but gusts are still good
Disappointed there is no rain to make it feel extreme
spent most of session practicing carving and crashing
Off the water a little early as the wind died. Didn't have energy to rerig.
Dags stayed out and honking again as a the rain comes through
What a great run of wind - now hankering for flat water, wide boards and big sails
Cheers Jeff
Good stuff Jeff, I had to take off early so after starting on 5.5 and then changing to 6.5 and then really needing to go to 7.5 as the wind dropped I ran out of time. I should have swapped to my bigger board because I can't tack that little board and don't pull off too many gybes and there wasn't enough wind to consistently and easily water start, but just ran out of time.
I'm heading off now two Turner's Brad. There is a lot of weed around at the moment
Can't please the boys. Wingeing all week that there is no wind. We get a good session happening and what do they do???
In to rest and talk about it - so Australian!!!
not to mention the beer....
Great arvo at Turners
cheers Jeff
Great couple of day's. Thank goodness for the weed fin's. Another good turn-out. Great picture Jeff.
Gathering like street kids around a six pack, I was out getting some weed with my 52cm weed collector whilst this must have been happening
Another fun Sunday afternoon at Turner's Camp yesterday. The Northeaster started to get up after lunch so I met Tony over there and we were soon joined by Denis, Brad, Jeff and Max. Awesome runs from the mouth of Ningi Creek across to the front of the VMR. A little bit lumpy in the middle but it settled down across the high tide when the run slowed down. Big sails and big fins soon got a bit overpowered, I dropped to 7.5 to tie in nicely with the wind backing off so I took one for the team and packed up as it came back in pretty hard again for that last half hour before dark. Looking much the same for this afternoon as well, happy Monday
Some lightwind madness/practce at sandstone tuesday arvo
Second day of forecast non quite delivering
Bribie John had a few good runs on his JPSLW and big gear.
I decided to do my "just go sailing" and practice non planing gybes and tacks
cheers Jeff
Feeling hopelessly addicted!!!
Sitting here at turners considering my lightwind options
Went for gentle tacks and gybes
Practice swinging big rig.
Free formula 9.5 Ezzy
Nice afternoons sail
At home in the pool waiting for today's wind Bradley
Lovely afternoon at Turner's Camp, a heap of sea grass in the water but it didn't annoy me till the bitter end. Joined by Jeff and Adam with a bit of a range of sails in use in the gusty conditions, Adam with 7.8, myself with a 9 and Jeff with a 9.5, there were a few overpowered moments but a fun sail was had. Bit of east in the wind so ridiculously flat conditions in the passage and big runs. A number of speed bumps with flippers near the mouth of Ningi Creek but we all managed to miss them and a large minefield of crab pot floats which Jeff seemed to run into all the time. Some very spectacular splashes were made by Jeff.
Nice day on the bay this weekend at Brighton. Had the One design out doing some nice runs along the foreshore. Hard to put the plastic up on the roof racks and drive an hour in traffic when I can just sail out front of my house.
Exactly right Hardcarve, that's why we Bribie/Beachmere kids don't stray too far from here, Pope John doesn't even get off the island if he doesn't have to.

Bribie Island Bribie Island is I think one of the best wind water sport places you can go to in SE Qld. Why travel when at home is just as good as anywhere else. Still don't understand the fascination with Turners on a NE with you kids as its gusty and weedy, but each to his own.

?? Hardcarve1
what alternate do you suggest for us locals in a NE?
always interested in alternative
cheers Jeff
agree weed can be problematic
Hey Sandstone crew, this John Pope you speak of. Is he John Pope fishing tackle n rod binder from Scarborough?
Lonely rigging up today.....
High tide, we have wind .....
rigging 7.5. Where are my sailing buddies???
"What horse race"
Off water safely - bruised and bashed!
Rigged too big by about 2m - wind came in and it was 'suicide survival' conditions.
Pope John and Mark retired from Bongaree due to extreme conditions, and came looking for some "flat" water sandstone fun.
Pope JOHN went out on 5.5 and testing his new weed speed. Mark went out on small freestyle wave gear. JV johnny did the big downwinder from bongaree
Progress today...Sailed out of 2 gybes - feeling ecstatic
Had to get home and upload ...
Like a bloke racing down to the pub to celebrate with his mates after scoring on his first date.......
Double digit alpha 12.7knts ..... wahooo
Those that have shared my painfull, and somewhat protracted journey with making progress on turning around will understand my elation
cheers Jeff

No mate, that's not him. Too many John's and Peter's, so nickname's are needed. I think J.V.Johnny came up with that one.
