Ok, my el-cheopo kite arrived,so I hung it up in the garage to try and figure out how the bridles work. Pretty simple, but may make up my own bridles to seperate the trailing edge with the leading edge lines, align the line vertically, so as to get pitch control. The old North bar still has the hole in themiddle for the de-power, so may even use that for a centre kill line. I have made a pretty crappy video of my very first attempt and the thing actually flys!! I have no idea what I'm doing, but I have a nice big 120 ltre foil board and a 2000 Naish front wing.

I'm wondering why the BRM did bridles that don't steer. I'd be tempted to keep your bridles like they are. Then you can make some sine flying power like a kiter. The BRM doesn't seem to steer well enough. My opinion is probably worthless, because I've not tried any of them.
Nice review of the 5m. Actually looks manageable, would like to see someone stow it while riding. Also more reinforcement that it's best to try it when fully powered.

This is about half the price. About $1,000 AUD for a 4m from what I can tell.

About AUD$594 for the 3mtr. That's removing the 19% vat, shipping extra.

I thought the same thing, but the bridles appear to be flying the kite in a semi
stalled state, plus very difficult to connect to a bar aligned with the kites chord, which is essential for going upwind. I have started a separate discussion on these type of kites so as not to hijack this discussion.
Foilers are the ultimate MUST HAVE SHINY NEW THING. Honestly seems like a few steps backwards on this front. Spend a bunch of cash, make it harder, yes! I'm finally free of the wing! But now I can't get off the water and I'm tangled up and it flew away and I can't do it anymore and now I'm just kiting again. Too funny!

Agree with this.
In the conditions I have seen video of the kite working you could DW paddle or use a 2.5m wing which would flag out super easy. Looks a way off being an easy-to-use product for everyday foiling especially in sizes over 2.5m.

If your primary use case is riding in place I would tend to agree better to stick with a wing. But if you enjoy dropping your wing with a drift anchor or you just need an assist to start your dw run then these pocket wings look pretty freaking awesome.
It's all the lens you view this through. Agree, this is a smaller market. Lots of people don't get why I love my anchorman, doesn't stop me from enjoying it.
Any information on where to buy a born kite in USA? Looks good for my needs

I guess I first want to see a video of this thing on the water. In the wavestar YouTube video you see that he rides downwind but when riding upwind he's 'snaking' his board i.e..propelling himself upwind. That doesn't convince me it actually goes upwind.
I might be wrong. Let's see some on the water videos first.
I tried the 2.9m in 15-18 knots today, riding 115l 8'x18.5" dw board and Axis Spitfire 1180. I was amazed how easy the wing is to fly. I managed to string some Jibes together but there weren't any bumps so I didn't try to stow. Good conditions tomorrow so hopefully I'll use it properly then. After the session I added harness line and it felt really so good on the beach. I was worried about arm fatigue but the harness I think solvea this. I was able to turn and depower the wing rather easily, much like a ram kite. Water relaunch similar to ram kite too but with such sort lines I'd say easier although being so close to the wing it's easy to shadow the wing with your body in light conditions. I was underpowered getting up but using the dw board it was easy to get up although the chop is never easy with these boards. Best not to go directly downwind with the wing or you lose line tension. Kiters will understand what this means, basically you need to go side to the wind to get up standing. You can rotate the front of the bar towards you to depower and prevent stall in light winds. Overall I'm stoked after first day.
For those who don't want to stow how about putting a very long sausage ballon in the leading edge ? That would keep the shape and might stop some bridal tangles happening. Pumped up with helium would also help ! Looks like a very small kite surf now!

Hi All ,I typically jumped in with a friend and bought a 4m BRM Parawing including harness being more consistentlywindier in WA with more DW options. My friend bought a 5.1m which he reckons has already got up on big 130L SLS Duotone DW board with 1401AxisArtPro.We are both approximately 110kgs.
I haven't unboxed mine yet but having watched on video a chap in Lake Ontario having a real life battle trying to get on foil.It made me seriously think is this 4m Parawing at my 68yrs & 110kgs really going to get me up on foil unless I have 20kts + a big gear 130L DW board & big foil.Answer is maybe with a lot of work.So personally I think firstly I have chosen too smaller parawing 4m for my ability & size.
So I will advertise it on Seabreeze Wing section shortly if anyone is interested in purchasing an unboxed 4m BRM Parawing & Harness.

Yeh Leigh I'm interested. Im in WA and think we know each other. I've flown the 2.9m and got it up in 15knots on dw board pretty easy. Went out in 17-27 second session and felt seriously overpowered so you might find the 4 m enough. I might be overpowered on the 4m so I'd like to try the 2.9m again in more stable conditions with smaller board before buying. As the wing is designed for bumps and they don't start until a solid 18 I reckon. You probably got the right size for you in WA and it's probably too much for me at 70kg. I'm keen just not sure I need it atm. Cheers, Michael

Hi there Michael, I sold it today to a guy in Geroa nsw today after posting my thoughts this morning.
I'm am happy to sell it as I am still learning winging and don't really need another challenge just yet.
Although after reading your experience with the Parawing 2.9 70kg it gave me a little hope that in 20kts 4m may have got me foiling.
Anyway deal is done and 4m & harness is off to a new home.
I may revise my options at a later date.
All good mate! Winging my regular gear for me last week was really off the charts fun and honestly for me I was maxing out. The parawing has much narrower purpose and still very much in the early stages. You'll have plenty of time to get into it later. One is more than enough for me at this stage so kinda glad you can't tempt me with your 4m
any more. See you on the waves no doubt this coming season down your way.
Looks like GONG has now joined the party with their version.

I'm just 3 sessions in on the PW and will keep it stock a while longer, but look forward to reading reports of this new tuning. Thanks for posting, FTGs!
It's sort of funny to see all the parawing folks, who are usually really good foilers, doing "the walk" again. They are seeing parts of the shore they haven't visited in a long long time
Reconfigured my 2.9 & 4m. Super easy to follow instructions. Tested the 4m today in 10-15 kts on KT 7' 100L and AFS Silk 1050/152. Feels like a big upgrade. No flapping in gusty conditions and drives upwind super easy. Still figuring out the depower and changing the angle of attack. Seems like you go from low power to full power and then to dumping power/stalling. Had to move my mono harness back about 2" and felt super smooth.
Getting the parawing through transitions seems a little harder to turn. Low end seems about the same. Can't wait to spend more time on em!
