anyone know anything about Carter 30's they can share?
Think she would be a capable coastal cruiser if you got caught out in the rough stuff?

It appears to have been looked after well.
Appealing.

Madman's Woodyard is for sale again. Good value. I guess you have to lie down to use the HF radio!

My first timber boat reno.
The was a sliding nav table under the cockpit so navigator was always on the high side of the yacht.
Decided bed was better use and the hf only got used for race skeds twice a year.
Never got wet there through and it was close to antenna base.
Still the original top side paint job from 1995 btw

Excuse my ignorance..but what is the rationale for those "stepthru"bulkheads.? Is to strengthen the hull or something to do with stopping water flooding in? Thanks

Coffs race about 1997 I think!!

Scotty Cav (ex Class 40 Round the World winner and mintransat) in the pit and Joshy Walker (sometime superyacht and big boat Hobart crew) trimming.
Both probarly 16 or 17 at the time.
Sold it in 1999.
Should have kept the Wooduck, would have saved me doing up Defiance.

Same mainsail as the picture in the Ad btw

The name Macgregor kills it stone dead for me.
This poor thing sat unloved at Rivergate marina for months about 2 years ago whilst Adrian Seffert auctioneers were trying to flog it off. It looked tired and in need of some love then, I know they struggled to sell/couldn't sell it.
I'd hate to be the seller, the problem being (aside from being a Macgregor) it's a 60'. You'd be pouring endless money into it, and personally I'd want a much nicer boat than that to justify the ongoings.

According to the Wikipedia page on Mac's, I think it's actually a 65' boat, not 60'. Some very concerning anecdotes regarding their build quality on this forum post:

IMO the Adams is not a pretty yacht , but the systems and equipment is extraordinary !! cant remember if the sails were highlighted in the advert though ? ..... steel is strangely appealing to me , even though i know i shouldn't consider it , the price always attracts

Yes, four sails, three very good condition.
I get an amber light when I read 'steel' but I can't see a problem.
I would love a comment from a steel boat owner.

You're gonna get the knockers who don't like steel but I feel a lot safer in my steely.

That is a very nice yacht and she has a big rig on her. Obviously amateur built but done very well.
The tiller steering is the way to go for that yacht. I would probably remove that boxy looking dodger and go for a lower profile hard dodger or have a canvas dodger. I am not fussed on that big gantry on the stern either.

If she is indeed true to Adams design and in as good condition as the photos show, I think it is a bargain at $55,000.
