One thing i did find was the prop coupling on the gearbox side had a loose retaining bolt
It could not completly fall out as it bottomed out ond the prop side of the couple
So the prop shaft could move in and out about 10 mm
Had a good look at it and the bolt and thread going into the gearbox out put shaft
All good so it got a good clean added loctite and tensioned the retaining bolt up
If your ready this naybe when you in your engine bay give the prop shaft a yank see if there is any movement
A thing that can be over looked
RDO today see how it pans out
Motors sitting at the keel of the boat dropped it off last night ready for a lift. one engine in and one engine out
Paint the bilge mount the gear box and make ready to slide her into the engine bed after a paint
That's the theory see how the practice goes
Good luck HG!
It is wet and cold up here, I hope you the weather gods are nice to you today.
Warm day down here Shaggy
Yaringa Boat Harbour have been great at short notice I had a fork lift to out and in . Which was great
Welcome to my pig sty
Black and white
I have to use the original front engine mounts also Ill use the original gear box mount .
I I dropped into work and bead blasted the old dv20 front engine mounts and there painted ready to go.
I checked my old engine mount they need replacing so Ill order some next week along with a new coupling element to go between the engine and gear box
So in the mean time Ill give the bilge a second coat and also cover a bit more than I have as paint was limited today
Fitted a sky light to the loo and some Bunnings led battery down lights....and yesterday sorted my halyard and tightened up my cross bow Tention!

Today... I saw my boat for the first time, I finally made it to Combrit. Threw the bags in the hotel and went for a walk along the harbour to se if I could get a sneak peek at Fusion (it is 3pm on Sunday here), and success! Initially I was shocked, she's bigger than I remembered, but is has been a year and photos don't really give you a sense of perspective. Grinning from ear to ear at the mo, can't wait for tomorrow!
Merci!
That picture just says "Fast and don't fall off!!" and the new hot favourite for the 2016 Brisbane to Gladstone Race.
Ride shotgun on the transport people Shaggy and make sure they do not damage her else they be strangled and swallowed by a Kraike.

Where's the water skis Cisco . Fusion could easily pull a pair doubles out of the water Id say
Damn, you could eat your breakfast out of that bilge.
I'm not leaving this area till is absolutely finished Cisco. Is one project at a time now
Nice job on the bilge HG !!
Shaggy , is your pen going to be wide enough !! A down wind speed demon !!!!!!

Famous last words Ho2!
While waiting for suitable weather to do the top coat on the hull i have removed the port holes to clean up and protect the timber and also been working on the cabin floor and sides. Picked up some tallowood flooring for deck repairs.

Well my boat budget and some over time ive bought some of these for my taylor stove
There not cheap but im hoping they will last a very long time
started on this gear change lever very firm pivot
Ill add a nyloc nit tomorrow . The pivot now has no friction
I found my oil leak at some time in its past the dip stick tube has been vibrating and broke or fractured and had been repaired along with adding a steel bracket to support the dip stick tube at the gear box mounting bolts . I think originally they never had a extra bracket at the top of the dip stick tube.
Where it had been braise with a bronze welding rod is slightly porous and oil has been slowly weeping from the tube.
On the way around to western port Mangrove and I stopped so I could check the oil just as we entered western port . I had topped it up before we left and there was no need to add gear box oil on that run it takes a while to loose in the short term. The rear gear box seal is not leaking like I thought it had been the dip stick tube was the problem and the oil was running down to the back of the gear box.
Might see if the banjo fitting can be bronzed and A new tube bent up. Ill think on it
In a way Id like to fill the gear box with the correct amount of oil ( the filler is directly on top of the gear box) measure though the filler hole and make the level on the side of the gear box and find a safe spot to drill and tap a BSP tapered thread to add a level plug and do away with the dip stick altogether.
If it could be done on the opposite side of the gear linkage it would be easily seen in my boat and easily ready .
These gear boxes can easily give you a false oil level reading and can be over filled or under filled . Over filled they over heat under fill the same and worse
I just want to correct some thing here
The BW 6 gear box has two level plugs even before I made mine The plug ""above ""the braised tube that's been repair is a level plug the BW 6 has two one each side in the same position
Some thing I didn't know till last night . You can never stop learning
Bon Jour!
Commissioning is going really well so far (touch wood). Today was mostly all electronics, it never ceases to amaze me how much wiring goes into a boat! My head and notebook is crammed full of what goes where, but I am chuffed to see numbering on all the wires and little note tags on all the critical stuff. The guy that has done all the wiring is a gentlemen called Pierre Vu, and his attention to detail has been great. There are service loops on the electronics to enable you to remove anything that is tight and things like all the battery side supply wiring is always on the top lugs, that sort of thing.
The DC bus alone is quite staggering how much has gone into it, I can only imagine what Jode looks like if mine is anything to go by!
The following is a pic of some of the electronics, this is taken from inside the rear starboard cabin looking inwards. Pogo call this cabin the "technical" area, it is primarily used for stowage and is also the main access to the engine, fuel and water systems as well as the electronics.

The big barrel at the rear is the hot water system, then moving forrard is the pumps, water filters the fuel tank and then electronics, both DC and navigation.
