It is easy to see that overwhelmingly believers have tried it and non believers and fence sitters haven't.

Was given one, could not really tell the difference, but did not use it for any great length of time.

I had one brought for me and given to me about 2 months ago, I have worn it every day.

I have to be honest I have felt no difference what so ever

My work mate has one and reckons his balance is better.

Maybe mine is faulty, or maybe it has made a difference I jus dont notice it

i was of the same, until i realized long time complaints of tennis elbow and sore lower back seemed to abate. now, i was just looking to see if i was going to fall off my board less, misguided happy fool that i am

Add me in....

That's why I start to sell them in Bali at my shop..

Here is how it goes:

90 to 95 % of the people who try them (do all the test) are very surprise and admit that there is something going on..

About 70 % of those who try buy it...

50 % of those who buy it, within 2 days they come back and buy for all the family and relatives....

Some people are so happy that they never stop to thanks me!

I don't really care what people think or if they say I'm stupid...
Call it placebo!! Call it whatever... I know what it have done to me and I'm happy..

I'm not going to comment on any reply I get..
The first time I replied about the Power Balance it was not nice to read all the amount of crap they wrote in reply.
Bye Jankie

PS. I also tried the magnetic bracelet that was in vogue some time ago and did not feel anything..

The crap works for me and others why can't you leave it at that!

Try about 10 double blind tests. Get two friends. One is to do the pushing, one is to plant the hologram and record results. You're the one to hold the hologram. Try it and get back to us how many times you correctly guessed you were holding the hologram.

Same goes for all of you who bought one. I'd be very interested in the results.

I don't promote the product, I'm just a random on a meaningless forum who was asked what I thought. I have enough proof for my $50 outlay.

The results won't affect those of you for whom it works unless faith and belief are the most important factor in their effect. And if they are, then it shouldn't matter if the hologram has an effect anyway, because you believe in it, right? That's what counts (like the legend of driving away a vampire with a cross - it's the belief that counts).

If you prove they do work, then think of all the people who you'll help, because you can show them the results and prove to them the beneficial effects of these holograms. $60 is a small price to pay for such effects.

If you prove they don't work, then think of all the people who you'll help, because you can show them the results and prove to them the holograms have absolutely no effect. Each person you tell will save $60, a not-insignificant sum of money (for me anyway).

Your experience isn't proof. It's opinion, non-quantifiable, non-measurable. Proof is much more rigorous.

Such tempers on the SUP forum. I'm not going to try them. I'd rather save my money. IMO they're clearly quackery. There is nothing even close to scientific or verifiable that says they work, not by the founder, not by any of the testers and not by any of the subjects gullible enough to buy them.

I visit/paddle in Bali more often than I post here and for good reason.
For mine the PB is a winner.I feel stronger and more centred with it on.Almost like having a triple expresso or other illicit(?) substance. So much so that I can't sleep wearing it.My wife feels the same
Jankie is gracious enough to loan them to you anyway so where is the downside?I completely forgot I had one until reading this, just put it on and my chronic back-ache is much reduced.

G'day. I said my new silicon replacement under warrantee which means i have a new one unless i have a crack in my head.
A paddle in your hands is a " proven " enhancement. I catch more waves with it then before. Statistical proof!
People say "looks like you were having fun out there". Peer review proof
Do i feel like i'm surfing good? Is 1000 grins proof?
Does the P B make me better? Hard to say as i cant exactly remember how good i was back in December. Unquantifiable. Hard to prove what i did yesterday either!!?
Try one and see. Have a little more self belief because of it.
Do you doubt your legrope as you put it on.

I have been ignoring this topic until now. It seems like we just had the exact same thread a few months ago. Seeing it hit 5 pages (disclosure have not read all of the posts) now I just came in to say its the Placebo Effect duh. But starlet GC beat me to it.

Good for you if it works, bad luck if it doesnt but dont assume its got anything to do with holograms. The power of the mind is extraordinary and far outweighs anything a wee plastic hologram can acheive.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placebo

A placebo described as a muscle relaxant will cause muscle relaxation and if described as the opposite, muscle tension.[36] A placebo presented as a stimulant will have this effect on heart rhythm, and blood pressure, but when administered as a depressant, the opposite effect.[37] The consumption of caffeine has been reported to cause similar effects even when decaffeinated coffee is consumed, although a 2003 study found only limited support for this.[38] Alcohol placebos can cause intoxication[39] and sensimotor impairment.[40] Perceived ergogenic aids can increase endurance[41], speed[42] and weight-lifting ability,[43] leading to the question of whether placebos should be allowed in sport competition.[44]

Good day fine folks,

I would like to say thank you to you all for posting comment on this tread. I like it, i wear it, i champion it. Weather it's because the clever folks of 'power band' have given us a wonderful placebo or whatever each of us may call 'it'. Me i would like to thank them. Positive thoughts, focus - cause i can feel it on my wrist is a gift! not to mention my need of anything to help my balance, core strength or just sound state of mind.

nb: tried the test o my 3yr daughter - inconclusive. However on the lake, she asked for it for 'balance' and if i told you the result...

Hope your all having a wonderfully happy long weekend :)

Another weekend of people trying my BP band (might I add 100% success) has resulted in the band braking! Not happy, have already ordered replacement though! My wife wants to wear my broken one in her leatard for dancing, so I guess it all works out good.

This thing is proving itself time after time. I suggest limiting the number of time you take it on and off though!

Yeah I don't do tests on anyone anymore. Mine cracked as well. They replaced for free which was good. Would cost them the best of part of 10c i rekon. I also got sick of the test working on non believers every time and them still calling it sh!t/hoax etc. I'll show people every now and then but only if they are truely curious.

Hilly, I will leave the answer to your logic. I have found (and everyone I have shown it to) that it helps you maintain and a consistently higher level of balance and power in balancing positions than with out. As balance is a rather large part of surfing..........

You won't grow a cape and start flying, or be able to suddenly walk on the high wire at the circus (or maybe you could??), but you will be able to go about your every day at your peak ability.

IMO the results are amazing.

i may be completetly wrong here - but it appears there hasn't been any scientific evidence behind these bands...

if someone on here can find a journal article by a scientist that has 100% conclusive evidence that proves that they do work - then well maybe I would change my opinion.. but you tube videos and hear say - Im definately a non believer... that doesnt prove anything!

Who needs science when you've got faith?

A generation or two ago these guys would have been all flipping out about the power of the Lord.... "I felt His spirit lift me up, He gave me better balance" etc

Thats unfashionable now so they've taken up secular holograms. Same deal for them. But just as tedious for us to listen to them bang on about how "amazing" the power of the Lord Hologram is.

I'm a jaded postmodern agnostic with a physics background so unfortunately I have to rely on pure Lobes willpower. Oh well....

Lobes, it is a bit hypocritical of you to say it is tedious to listen to people bang on about the Lord/Ganesha/ etc, when you are doing the same thing for your set of values.

No disrespect meant I have no problem with your belief and if you are referring to overzealous fanatics who try and convert you at every attempt I can agree with you .

I think pictures can always lighten a mood as religion is a topic I think no one wants to discuss in a SUP forum

As far as I can find on the net, anybody of a suitably scientific bent is so convinced that the claims are false that they refuse to buy a hologram so they are not contributing cash to the fraud.

You can find stuff where people discuss the various scientific claims made for Power Balance, and they refute them (dodgey "test", Schuman resonance, what holograms actually do, placebo effect, ideomotor effect, power of suggestion, cheap magic tricks)

Nobody will own up to actually buying a hologram, doing a set of reasonable tests, and coming to a conclusion.

From the supporters there is a fair amount of "you haven't tried it so your opinion doesn't count", which has also happened on our happy little forum.

I'm no scientist but I do lots of scientific and analytical stuff for which I get paid handsomely. Much to my own discomfort I have ordered a bracelet from the real manufacturer for the real price (not from ebay and not a cheap one). I will give it a go and see what happens.

Its not really hypocrisy as I'm not trying to start a discussion about how my values make me a better surfer.

I have nothing against religious types, atheists or indeed Transhumanists who believe in the power of holograms. Just saying take it for what it is. Something that has yet to be proved by the scientific method.

My adherence to the scientific method and its use of empirical evidence will make me a better surfer. Thats obvious, has been proved numerous times and debating it here is not really required as I would be very surprised if there were any who felt different.

But in this context the real benefit is it will stop me from spending $50 on plastic wristbands.

If the Holograms really worked they'd be standard part of every professional sports teams uniforms and probably get a run in the military as well. That they are not suggests there is no quantifiable benefits.
