Mini break on the Sunny Coast - Monday paddle-out from Main Beach at Noosa around past Litte Cove,
Tea Tree Bay and caught some ankle-slappers in Granite Bay before the paddle back. Heaven on earth up here...and bugger all people around at the moment too
18 fat beachies on the back of the high tide, up the guts at Aggy main, 18 long rollers at the point as the tide emptied out. All in about 2 hours 40.
The best advantage of SUP, catching the opposite of what everyone else can.
I don't normally count waves, but I did today to stir my boy up when I picked him up from school
And it certainly motivated him to go and beat my tally...
This summer has been ridiculous. Our area of the Pacific averages 26 Typhoons per year, and here we are at the end of July, and I think there was one...months ago...when it's usually way to early for storms. So our small wave streak continues. It's been that waist to shoulder pulse from the Ocean all summer, with a few head-high days. I've surfed here for 40 years, and this is the flattest summer I can remember. Even then, I'm grateful that we have something to surf almost 365.
Smokin' sunrise this morning. Out at a local (to me) outer reef break. Joined by about five surfer friends this morning. They have a little boat that makes the 1.5km commute easier for them :-)
Few 2-3 foot little peelers at First Point in Noosa (along with a squadron of long boarders, alaia riders (show-offs...) and a couple of SUPs. No GoPro so pics from the Point before paddling out as the tide dropped
Saw the wind was down this morning and the swell was up a bit, bailed on the idea of surfing prone and put the SUP on the roof..
Grabbed a really crap coffee from the servo and headed to the coast in the dark, upon getting out of the car could hear the swell, would it be too big for the SUP?? Either way I was committed (the beauty of not having a choice)
Lumpy large fast waves on some good shaped banks with hideous closeout sets is what greeted me, I picked the thin green line of a rip and somehow got out the back unscathed, was really glad for the extra volume and width of my current SUP, made padding around the lumps and backwash a lot easier.
Was a bit rusty at first but soon found my groove, scoring some fun super fast, steep waves almost all the way to the beach, if I made it far enough I could spin around and head back out in the rip, paid the price for kicking out in the wrong spot a few times 
Such a buzz being the only SUP out when there is a bit of size. I try my best not to get in any ones way and so far have not gone without waves and not got in anyones way, the current moves surfers around a lot and a few times I found myself in prime position with no one near me - Yeow!
Adrenalin soon wore me out and it was time to head in, courtesy of a closeout I was able lay down and get one all the way in, had a quick shower, grabbed an epic brekky wrap and a good coffee then headed into work.
Life is good.
Considering the lock down restrictions I cannot go far for a SUp so I had to put my prejudice aside and paddle the Yarra river. All in all it was a great day for it and as long as I stay above the water line I am very happy to do this run again. As all AFL supporter would expect the Collingwood section of the river was the worst!
Where did I SUP today, one year ago today???

Life in all it's glory and reality.
Embrace all the amazing things, face the sun and soak it up!
Go hard, go easy...... we all end up at the center of a paddle-out.
The paddle-out was for a 48 yo friend/surfer/lifeguard.... struggled with life's realities and lost.
It's not a struggle... it's just life with all the trimmings.

Lifeguards have to clear the water when a GW is spotted... so we surf early.
There was a GW fatality in the region... successful woman, amazing athlete and close friend to some of my SUP buddies. She was swimming near her home on a beautiful island in Maine.... living a full life.
ha ha... I swear, just this second, my phone pinged:
my beach was just closed for one hour due to GW sighting... freeking clockwork every day, it's 10 am.

Wicked post man - a real reminder of just how friggin' fragile and temporary the lot of us are - life - the ocean and earth - blink and you'll miss it. Enjoy every minute and take nothin' for granted.

My fun little 10km paddle today down the Burnett ( with a side dish of Lungfish). Life's tough...
Back on the water with my daughter. Over a month I I haven't been able to get out. She tried the 14 footer for the first time but didn't like it. She also insists on carrying her board.
Putting the board on the roof in the freezing cold rain. Light offshore winds, small swell.
Forecast was for light onshore so thought I had given the local crew the slip.
Had it good early then the party bus arrived, still blows me away how I am away from the pack and then I get a couple of waves and crew paddle over and give me the stink eye, paddle on the shoulder and generally dare me to run them over - rant over, had a fun surf and a good winter continues.
Was south of the big smoke over the weekend, not deep south just enough to be away from metro.
Aimed to surf a reef break that we have had fun on before in decent swells. Forecast looked small and tbh didn't expect much, the benefit of travelling with a frother crew is you will most likely get a paddle in regardless of conditions.
Myself and couple of mates ended up sharing a magic little session of fun reef sliders for a couple of hours. Party waves and running commentary on every wave was par for the course. Waves were actually really long, from the beach didnt look like much but really fun walls with plenty of sections.
Sharing fun waves with a few mates is just one of the most enjoyable parts of the sport.
Surfed an Oahu south shore reef at midday. It's hard to see how big it is but it was only waist high.
This wave broke over 1 to 2 feet of water so not many takers. It was a race to the channel on every one.
I am really enjoying the new NSP 10' Super X. It has been working great in all types of waves and conditions.

It is the proclaimed "quiver killer" as my other boards collect dust. They will have to wait until I get tired of this one.
