Yes that is true SP,I think they're just trying to go back to the origin of longboarding(hence the groovier times ahead),there where no thrusters in the 50s and 60s but sure we are in the 2000s now.In saying that there's always the Old Mal comps to go in if that's what people are interested in!...

So vanders trolled me and alig just follows what vanders says...

Exactly sp

They can also go into Joel Tudors invitational comp that only his cool hipster mates who hate the idea of competitions compete in lol

Is Joel Tudor a mod? How did my comment about his self righteousness make me taste my own vomit get deleted ? Funny

Also I would hate to see the likes of Harley , Joel tilley, Dane Pioli and crew from showing all their skills because people want to limit a comp to what their ideals are over the benefit of the sport.... sometimes a single fin will suit a wave and sometimes it will ruin a wave.

Chrissy,who is alig

That post sums you up.... Bravo

mmm,not quite the answer I was looking for but yeah ok,sometimes I can be sagacious

And not the answer you expected arrogant drunken **** might be a better description than sagacious ....sorry just being sagacious

SP is on the money I see daily good longboards out perform me on my HP board, it's the surfer not the fins.

Yeah. I'm Not a fan of blokes riding them like shortboards but why not just change the judging criteria if the goal is more traditional. Longboarding..

The asp Comps are a good blend of noserides and turns in my opinion.
I just think the fin as a determing factor is silly. If we are going retro then Why not make them go the whole way. No concave bottoms, vee only. No hard edge rails.. boards over 30 pounds etc.

Cause they surf like ****..

In the end who farkin cares it's the ASP and they are getting further from what good surfing is each year. Joel tudor said this since the 90s...

Now they are a source of funds..
Joel got a biz Ness model. Vans etc..

Have you seen the doco "Sea of Darkness" SP? It covers that incident in a bit more detail - ie where the drugs came from and who supplied them. When you read that interview it states........

Warshaw: Not sure if he went with Lopez, but was one of the early guys there, yes. So he had a bit more zing off the top then Gerry, but was never going to snatch the pebble from the masters hand in terms of tuberiding. Lopez probably did his very best surfing at G-land in those early years. Raz couldn't touch him. Nobody could.

In the Sea of Darkness they make it out pretty clearly that whilst Gerry was the King of Pipe - the real King of G-Land was a Newcastle fella by the name of Peter McCabe . Some great footage of the pair of them stying it at G-Land in those early days along with Mike Boyum.

Some light reading here

They considered that here too. I think its a good idea for boards over 10 foot, that way it would keep the learners out of crowded surf breaks coz boats are required to keep a distance away from recreational swimmers/surfers. I've got a boat license but forget, pretty sure its 50m away from people & if you are operating a motorised craft I think you need to reduce speed too. Or thats just etiquette & something I did when I had a boat....will be interesting to see how it goes for Florida, it may well set a precedent.

I think you Kiwis owe us an apology. No, not just for thumping us in the Bledisloe for the last 75 freaking years! (But, that too, if you want to.)

Nope - no apology from me on this one

The all blacks could give the Wallabies their entire game plan 1 month before any match and it wouldn't make a difference to the result.

More so, the All black culture starts with sweeping out their own change rooms after every match from the Captain down.
Old school at its best

Mick you can't be serious, but I can't see no little wink face emoji.

speeking of I don't do anything wrong shortboarders.
most runins I've ever had are dropin short boards,,,drop ins do more harm in the lineup.

Good on them for leaving the forum up - plenty of other websites (this one included) would not have.

SP should post those pics from Byron for further encouragement.

I would be supwr super annoyed as well. It's not like you need a cam on every point

Only an idiot would plant cams at every point down the coast - bloody stoopid they wouldn't last the day in some spots I've already been , wouldn't like to be the sucker maintaining one of them either that could be dangerous
