Just heard on the radio. That outbreak in nw tassie. Well turns out medical people had a dinner party and that outbreak is being linked to that party

Interesting Lacey - apparently they are tracing the genetics of the virus ( learn something new everyday ) - and it will either go back to the Ruby Princess or this party . Our premier is saying it's just a rumour but police are investigating - if there was a party would hate to be those involved . Rumour goes it was a Victorian locum doctor partying with 3 nurses .

From what i can see in the paper this morning they will not lift restrictions until they have 7500 ventilators nationally.
So looking at that they dont think they can stop the virus, they just delayed the rise until they were up to speed medically.

Discuss

If the virus ran screaming through us like in NY 7500 would not be enough.

Besides it has been proven that ventilators can cause more harm than good by forcing the virus deeper into lung tissue under positive pressure.

So that excuse is simply that, an excuse.

It would be much more cost effective to round up everyone with a positive test and enforce isolation for six months.

And to ensure that anyone at high risk due to an existing condition is also isolated for six months.

Meanwhile the rest of to population can keep the country running and practice good hygiene and social distancing awareness in what would essentially become a virus free environment.

Any further outbreaks could then be identified and controlled systematically.

Oz is in an ideal position to do this and to recover economically.

Without the economy recovering we will cause knock on effects that will cause more damage than the disease.

And yet all I see is a population being controlled down to allowable social interactions by fear.

I can't speak for others but I would be happy to risk contracting and even dying due to this virus than give up the hard won freedom that our grandfather's father's fought and died for.

To me it seems that we are all more scared of possible loss and casualty than being willing to protect what people willingly gave their lives for in the past. FREEDOM.

WE HAVE ALL BECOME A BUNCH OF SOFT COCK PUSSIES.

Selling out universal freedom for personal nanny state safety.

And yes I get the tragedy of loss attached to this thing. But as out illustrious leaders point out we are at war, a war where they would sacrifice freedom and not allow the personal choice for us to fight to protect it.

Talk about setting the stage for tin foil hatter's to come up with all sorts of theories!

I can appreciate this post and the guts to say it.

No harm talking

Opinons are like arsehole.

Everyone has one and most are full of ****.

People forget there is a difference between an educated option and Barry that failed ****ing year 9 science and doing his research on Google giving us a solution.

Education, experience and training are the most valuable things when forming a educated opinon.

Really SP?

That the best you got? To have a crack at someone and infer that they are uneducated through trite analogies about sphincters?

Come on bro surely you can do better than that?

Following the company, or in this case government line is not critical thinking old mate.

I actually agree strongly with what has been done and how this has been managed. A very difficult and dynamic situation.

But what I disagree with is strong arm enforcement of restricting freedoms.

Especially if people are self managing correctly minand causingimal risk to others.

And I disagree with the cops having the power to judge that subjectively.

Aww the bloke who's come back is i ****ed your wife is butt hurt someone called him a dumb ****.

It is a stupid ****ing thing to say. My opinon sticking by it.

Mate really?

Think you may have missed the coffee stop this morning. Might need to go back and do a reset?

I'm all for differing opinions because that makes me question my own position and assumptions, and I fully welcome every one of them.

I even welcome being called stupid for an unfounded statement.

But resorting to name calling and analogies based on anatomical characterisations is piss poor form and beyond juvenile.

You saying I ****ed your wife and calling her a pig wasn't?

Start throwing stones mate and people will treat you how you treat others.

Whaaattt? Umm that was not me bro.....

Might want to check who typed what before laying blame.

If I did say something that offensive then I would offer apologies, but I did not.

But according to the chain of who typed what those where your words.

Well according to some all hell will break loose and everyone will die.

But most normal people who know how to behave like adults will have gathering restrictions reduced in place of nanny government dictating what they are allowed to do.

So people can go for a swim and sit on the beach to dry and warm up without fear of a stupid fine.

They can buy a coffee, pizza or kebab and sit down to eat it.

They can walk beside a friend or family member or two without breaking the law.

At least that is what I've been told from an insider.

Time will tell.

WARNING - LONG POST.
Something that everyone seems to missing is the validity of the data being used to justify the action being taken.

Everything that is being done is based on squirrelly data derived from a dynamically changing environment.

Data that is being derived based on best guess modelling from the WHO who used specific algorithms from people with vested interests.

And then there are the death counts. As varying and fluctuating as the predictions.

Apparently in NY there were over 1000 deaths a day from other causes such as cancer etc. Post Carona these deaths are now attributed solely to a virus, thereby elevating the count and justifying the actions being taken.

In engineering we always need a foundation or a datum to work from. All measurements made are then quantified from this location. And yet for this virus and the action taken we all look at the web based statistics presented through a shiny dashboard, as do our governments, and accept this as gospel truth. We then fully toe the line based on the fear campaign attached to this and willingly forfeit the freedom that father's, grandfather's, sisters and mothers died to protect.

Case in point the state of WA. Only one new community based case yesterday, and for that we have a crippled economy, potential for worse outcomes based on economical collapse, and worse a loss of our rightfully liberties and freedom to move around that allows us to survive.

I'm not saying Covid19 is not real, there is actual evidence to validate it's presence and potential damage it can cause.

But it is not the threat that it is being made out to be. Yes it will effect many if strong action to contain and control is not taken, but the action taken has a significantly greater potential to cause wider spread and longer lasting damage than the disease if not kept in check and based on real statistics.

A cure? We are now being told that restrictions will be in place until a cure or vaccine is found?

Why? Why when specifically in WA would we need to wait to implement a "cure" when through testing and measurement, along with tracking we can contain the spread? Yes maintain some travel and movement restrictions, and implement full population testing as the priority over a vaccine so that a true datum exists.

If concerns remain for at risk groups then provide that minority options to isolate and stay protected until such time that the fire has passed.

At the end of the day it all comes down to the faith you place in the officials in charge and how they are responding. In WA our guy seems to be keeping a level head. So far our cops seem to be not getting carried away with their powers and infringements, giving people the time and opportunity to adapt to the new reality, and credit to all we seem to be doing ok at that.

But for how long?

It's real mate - we have about 6 people we know with it now . All pretty healthy but it has flattened a couple of them . Most common sign seems to be complete lack of energy and really dry cough .We have closed shop for a one week atm might stretch that out yet - getting bit close to home .
