Had a fun surf at Kingscliff yesterday - some bigger sets rolling through than expected.
Had an awesome surf on Thursday up the Sunny Coast, despite not catching many (really any) waves.
Twas a spot with a really defined peak/take off and I just sat wide. Too wide. I was up there for a meeting, and used ait as a recon mission, so was happy to sit wide and watch.
Local guy who was catching more waves than most paddled past and let me know I wasn't going to catch anything where I was, and needed to move into the take off zone -told him I didn't want to get in anyones way and happy just to watch... his response was 'the waves are for everyone' or something... so in I moved. Another local had a good chat to me about my board, and was honestly interested.
It was just really refreshing, at a place with such a defined take off point (and crowded with a dozen people in the water), to be welcomed.
Anyway, if you're reading Mick - thanks for that!
