I did have a surf yesterday - Burleigh, mid beach.
You're right, I did feel a bit awkward, but mostly because the wife and kids came along. For the most part, everyone was respecting social distancing.
The challenge is the right balance. If we all keep doing what we can before they close everything, they'll close everything sooner.
That, and when all non-essential services are closed, it'll be party time at the beach.
Well they could ration outdoor activity , odd numbers one day even the next , could do that for food etc .
Looks like in the coming days surfers will be regaining their ratbag status in society again as surfers flaunt stay at home edicts to catch waves. All that marketing that professional surfing has done over the years may just prove you can't polish a turd.
Well a couple at the G felt bad made worse driving past LACEY as he was on a work site. But I'm going into lockdown I think we will be in total lockdown in a week. So sad driving past all the business closed.
Looks like the message has got through. Massive massive difference in people numbers at greenmount compared to just one week ago
Anyway done . Straight home
cant even walk around a golf course on your own, QLD courses are closed, cops even went to one club and shut them down.
shut down is coming.
For sure, a shut down is coming. No question. Just a case of when and what.... NSW, with it's shutdown, has beaches limited to 500 people. Or, at least it did yesterday....
That said, I did go for a surf down the Alley this AM. Figured it might be the last for a while.
Great surf. Took the 12' glider out for the first time since buying the In The Pink a few months ago (two months ago?).
I forgot how simply awesome that board is.......
this is a tough one , on the Kirra cam a well known forum member or his clone from across the boarder, NSW resident was seen in the line up ...do I report to the border police ... let it slide or do my civic duty ...?
No surfing for me I'm in lockdown mode. There have been some nice fun waves out there but it's not worth taking the risk, I will ride it out life is too short.
Heapa out along the local. Spread out though.
I dont know how they would go stopping the gold coast from surfing.
Just saying
You fellas really shouldn't be surfing, you're all in the high risk age bracket- you can get your kicks watching us young bucks on the surf cams
Went for my daily beach walk exercise swim and yes Kirra to Snapper I couldn't believe the amounts of young hipsters and other surfers who don't give a f... Yes I would have loved to be out there catching those nice waves but haven't. I heard the police fine a couple of surfers at Cabba for being too close. Good on them.
