Trigg was WAY deep when I checked it 9:30am Saturday morning - had some size though and a fair crowd at second carpark.

Mate went elsewhere about 1pm and said it was 'good' (suspect this really means 'OK').

Some really nice waves at 2nd and 3rds at Trigg this morning. Really clean swell and some good banks for the sets too. A little deep in places but it should improve with the tide dropping if the swell hangs around.

I'm kicking myself for not thinking to get out of bed today for the pre-work early. I thought it'd be too small and I'm used to afternoon surfs nowadays.

I'm just in a mindset where I don't think about the morning for the last few years. Instead I go to work early and leave early if I think it's on. But I should change that and be more flexible.

But yeah, slippers would be nice.

I just don't know how you blokes manage a before work early...

If I get up at 5:30am... in the water at 6:15am and surf for 1hr:15min always looking at my watch and getting frustrated I am not getting enough waves...

Run back up the beach at 7:30am - then it's a mad dash for shower/shave/toast and half a cup of coffee etc before sitting in traffic and getting to work just before 9:00am where the day has already started...

And worse of all, if it's on - then every bugger is doing the same and it can be like a Saturday morning crowd...

Might be getting too old - Doggie, are you handing out those slippers?

I aim to leave the water by 8:15, then I'm back home by 8:35. Bag's already packed, time for a quick breakfast, only shave once a week, stay salty all day, hopefully remember deodorant, be at work by 9:30 (or a bit later). Just have to stay late to compensate. It only really works when the sun's up early enough, that's why I prefer the afternoon surf because I can spend a couple of hours working when it's dark and pay it off with a decent afternoon surf in the light. Although I have been known in the past to hit the water at 7:15 until 8:15 on rare June days.

live in a regional area GP.....10 minutes downhill on my pushbike(rare) to work or about 3-4mins by car ..........range of beaches covering almost every wind direction(except straight east and strong southeast) within 15 mins....
depending on the tide (low required for a quick blast up the beach ) swell and wind i can get a 2 hour surf totally solo some days ..
its pretty rare to have more than 8-10 people in the water and i would consider that a crowd .....being the "chief cook and bottlewasher" at work helps a little too normally there by 9.30 after leaving home at 9.20ish

Unfortunately it's just not that convenient for me...

I know a guy who will leave work in Leederville at lunch time and drive to Trigg, wettie up and be out for a quick 20-30min, then cold shower in the carpark and race off back to work... maybe having caught 4 or 5 waves.... He does this quite regularly in summer.

That to me is just not worth the effort (I'd probably either get pinged for being back late or else get done for speeding).

I absolutely love little clean days like that - especially with that crowd! So much fun... is that Tom's or Mettams rights or perhaps Trigg dog beach??

Good conditions again this morning, just smaller than yesterday.

The frequency is kicking in and the swell will follow, so the later you can leave it the better it will be!

Maybe. Perfect conditions for one, right? Fast beachbreak, crowded, headhigh. I'll have to make sure the low-loader is fuelled up to take it down there.

On another funny note, the other day I was out and it was about 1'. At one stage a freak 2 1/2' set came through and ole mate on a Mac T longboard just down the beach from me scrambled for his life. I watched him bail and dive under right at the worst possible spot as the lip hit the water. Up he comes to find the only thing holding his two new shortboards together was the bottom skin. Poor ole mate took a long time to comprehend what had happened, and about 10min treading water cradling his baby into shore. Teach him to bail. Lip must've hit the board square in the middle. Funny telling his mates he snapped his board on a 1' day.
