great value for money, the technology used on and in these boards will unleash your inner (insert name of surf star) and are so unique that strangers will approach you and ask you questions. Questions like "wow you are clearly an innovator, may I invite you back to my luxurious abode for further discussion?" Mick they look like that because our glasser is actually a 13yr old, he's a primate and we pay him in tobacco, best employee ever.

kneepads are an optional extra, they are made out of ergonomic moondust and cost 1200 bucks. The handle is also optional, we offer a model with a waeco fridge attachment which is surprisingly popular with the longboard customer.

On the bright side...these boards are so wide katana could fit 2 or 3 of his shark shields. Shark would just vaporize from the extreme field.

could it be also used to vapourise someone about to drop in? We've got a vacant position in our R&D department, interested Captain?

^^^^^
First things first....first requirement if R&D dept will be to work out how to do a proper paint job. Next job will be to work out why the boards look like a slightly shrunk SUP. then i can move onto shark vapourisation....

That's why they need a handle - the 35" x 4" dimensions means they don't fit under your arm!

Were you allowed to just paddle out on that thing, or did you have to wait for the harbour master to assign you a Tug Boat and a Marine Pilot?

I have one of these STarboards and have had 6 good surfs on it - mine is the 6'0 by 21"

Its a sweet board - it was quite under finned out of the box though -i just threw some larger fins on.

These wont be cheap but the proposition is extreme high performance due to incredibly light and durable construction - i suspect learned from making SUPS that are super light and virtually indestructible (no easy feat but they pulled it off)

So you buy once and keep the board for 10 years - like it did with my all rounder from the 90s (it is now known as the dimply "brown bastard")

Board flies in a straight line (easy enough to make happen with a flat rocker BUT also can convert that momentum into a rail held drive turn without skipping out. I did an air on it 3 rd surf in (i cant do airs) - i suspect as a result of riding a board that is so physically light for its volume.

These are a viable option - and represent good value for money especially when you can see surfers snapping 3 lightly glassed boards in a year (if you want similar weight / performance comparisons)

I can see how culturally this approach to creating surfboards has many Aussies feeling insecure.

I also respect what local shapers like Katana are doing - he has some sick boards - and put me on one of the best big wave boards i have ever ridden (for an indo trip- spewing that i sold it)
i suspect and hope local progressive shapers will continue to rock on

FWIW My small wave board is a locally built styro twin fin custom that i absolutely love and will always be in my Surfboard collection.

Its a big world out there and a relatively free market - so make your choices!

I suspect the Starboard construction will create a nice little niche for those that can afford the up front value for money proposition.
