Charts have been looking great the last few weeks with a High coming across weekly.
Prob with a cyclone the after affects can screw the wind up for weeks.
cyclones are good but we dont want one yet.
that's true vando,
time will tell. starting to remind me of last year when you nabbed the NM a couple of weeks before hand.
this low is expected to head west. fingers crossed it hangs for a while jumping back and forth across the coast.
one thing is for sure we will get an event with a cyclone at some point. late march is usually very windy.
either way the SE trades are flowing and there is no reason why they won't continue to flow during the event. (touch wood)
Hey Sausage.
Justin and I are both going in radar class.
Just spent 3 days down there over the weekend. Was pretty awsome but 30+ knots is a bit out of control on my 110lt board. Either that or its just me out of control
How'd Cooroman go? Might give it try next weekend if the tides are right.
Cheers
Ian
We just had a weekend at Burrum - testing the waters.
Note to everyone, there's been lots of rain, so bring bug spray and sandpaper.
Dylan.
I was thinking on the weekend that it seemed that the NM potential of Burrum was being changed by the movement of sandbars and so on. So just to check, I grabbed a track from last year's event and laid it on top of a track from yesterday.
Result below, red track is 13/3/2010 and white track is 29/3/2009.
Dylan.
I think this just shows a different wind angle. last year must had more south in it and this year more east? Otherwise bank looks the same
Given that the current red track is closer to the bank, it might indicate that some of the soft sand has gone, that would explain why its so shallow close the bank at the moment and not very kind to fins
higher tide currently. Walked a fair bit of it on fri & felt you couldnt sail as close as previous years quite noticeable around the beacons.
Sausage -
i been looking at the areas out for good flat water runs up there, just a pity i can't get to it when the wind is on.
Good to see if the other guys make the Burrum w/end, i will be in the GPS class this year so i hope the Rocky or Yeppoon guys can claim the Radar class (again)
I may have a spare room at the units i am staying, so if anyone needs a roof over their heads, let them know
cheers
