Nice day at Bongaree today, Darren still hates winter and John sailed heaps of km. Adam was kinda special and drilled through his thumb at work in his rush to come sailing so he had to be a spectator and Mark showed up for the late shift and should get good wind. I was on a tight timetable so only had a couple of hours to sail, the wind was light then blew heaps which had us rigging small sails, and then died off a bit and filled in more when I was leaving. Heaps of holes in it though and it was a bit up and down, but after the last few weeks it was nice to power up a bit. I wish I could have hung around, it would have been a lot of fun there this arvo

Too windy and cold for Bribie Harleys today, they're all out in their Camry's going 30km/h down Welsby Parade instead.

How was the drive home down the Gateway Brad? My car was getting blown around a little driving across the Bribie Bridge before

Great catching up with the Bribie winter sailing desperadoes. Apparently Darren hates winter so he was only out sailing for four hours. I got there and rigged 8.6 which was plenty in the lulls and a bit much in the gusts.
The water was reasonably flat too. One and a half hours on the water was enough fo me. Great days sailing.
Being able to sail all year is something we take for granted, pity those sailors in Europe who get a few months a year and their summer water temp is lower than our winter.

Yep looks like I did something with gps before heading out - some sort of glitch??

i got a good speed 38knts but no extra kms?? Need to learn how to edit my tracks.

really enjoyed the sailing today.

Frustrated with the variable winds at sandstone off and on the plane with the GO I changed boards and took the battle ship (rio longtail) out into the passage and sailed across to the lads at bongaree

heading out from sandstone the Ezzy 8.5 was underdone however all changed as I got closer to bongaree. Hang on and enjoy the ride - wahoo

got offered a ride back to sandstone by dags when he saw what size gear I had and I was nervous about the down wind ride back to sandstone.

Tightened the ezzy Ezzy up a bit and headed out. Was thinking this is either going to be ride of my life or end badly.

With a huge 'here I go' I drove the board off the wind and held on - this is living, kept saying .... don't stand up, stay low, keep sheeting in - Watch the Water. Keep looking where I'm heading

got back to sandstone in one long run - absolutely knackered with the legs throbbing.

Just love it!!!!

Massive effort!!! There was one moment just after you left the beach when I said to the guy's "You couldn't have got a knitting needle in his bum just then". Have to say; We stood there watching Pete get back, and still kept sailing on that ridiculous size sail. Made my expiry date seem premature.

Yep, i hear ya Darren. Bailed work early to get amongst it.Only a couple of good runs. Gusty wind n tide in same direction makes it hard to get a good free planing session at GB.

Drive was fine thanks John. You never go fast enough to be effected by the wind.
Had a nice trip home the day before. It was raining a bit, but someone had kindly lit a little fire to make it a bit more comfortable.

38 knots hey Jeff. Told you that Go was a good board.

Well done Mark, and excellent progress. John and I were over at Bongaree and noticed you were going really well and didn't drop the sail any time that we were watching. Even Adam commented on how much better you were sailing yesterday afternoon. Just sail every day you can and you'll be confident and zipping around in no time, that's all Adam and I did, spent as much time on the water as we could.

I struggled today, I rigged a 9m and used the 59cm fin. I got going here and there but just couldn't stay on the plane. John with his 9.5m sail, SLW board and 70cm fin with less weight and more ability than me was pumping himself onto the plane and keeping going and Sean the Kiter was zipping around with a 17.5m kite doing jumps and stuff and being a smart@rse. Hopefully another big blow coming through saturday night and we get to do it all over again.

Gee I hope tomorrow is like the chart would suggest. Might stay up tomorrow night and see if it blows the next day.
Hopefully I won't be sore by then. What about you Adam?

Gentle F2 lightning arvo on the water - no wallys were spotted!!!

Haha, I dragged that up the beach the other day.
Wonder if we'll get a couple of days of wind now everybody's back at work.
Hey Jeff, don't tell me that's ending up in your yard too.

A BONGAREE BEDTIME STORY

After a good bit of fluffing around in the carpark, Dags finally figures out what board, sail and fin combination he would like to use and gets into the water.

The wind disappears.

Nice work Dags.
