This arvo... local break....took the board and................... watched it. I knew my limit was reached. Wish I had a more than an Iphone with me. does not really do justice to the size
Some of the bombs were serious. 6ft very solid open beach break
Wish I had a camera to catch those who surfed it...was brilliant to watch and truly inspirational...some very very heavy wipe outs though. (Some board manufactures will do well tomorrow too...unfortunatley for some)
^ Probably checking a different beach mate...the area I live is like one long (very long) suburb with a town centre. I live in the South & a bloke that does a local surf report is in the North. He gets it wrong all the time coz he's only checking his local beach or guesstimating.
Since its my birthday today, I figured there had to be a wave. Was up at 0530 & down the beach at 0630. Local was flat, but the local beachie had some fun little chest height left & rights coming through. Surfed on my own for a couple of hours & then went home & got the shortboard coz the lefts felt smackable. Forgot how bad shortboards feel in small waves after being on a longboard lol Was really goofy on my weight distribution on the first couple but managed to feel less of a kook after a bit. Hadn't been on the shortie since mid January & hadn't had a wave since last Monday. So was nice getting a few with the usual dolphins playing around as well brightening up a dark overcast, light rain, small swell day before the dreaded Northerly told me it was time to head home & decide on what time was beer o'clock today. I'm thinking 1230
For Ted.... todays report at my local
Tue 25 March 7:01am Surf: Glassy 4ft NO Winds: Calm W Weather: Cool And Cloudy Rating: 7/10 Waves have dropped a little today being in the 4ft range with slightly bigger one range coming from the ENE, joined by a very calm W wind making the surf very clean. Found the open facing beaches to maximize wave potential, a rating of 6.5 today with good surf, plenty of surfable waves, (If only i could surf OK) with good conditions. Get out there !!
Was some fun ones... Matt Banting was out and was smashing it...great to watch
Yeah it was good clean fun before that Nth hit mate. I love overcast days...seemed to be picking up, local might have a little joy tomorrow *fingers crossed*
how good is it surfing 5 ft alley waves with some push behind it on a 9'8 log.
doh, not very good. come on hp cw 9'1- i'm eager and keen
Sounds fun LL not.
Happy Birthday Mick - hope you have a good one. My issue with the report guy is that when he says its 4/10 its really 1/10 and when he says its 7/10 its really more like a 9 as it does not get much better - trust me I just think that if he has a scale of 0-10 he should not be afraid to use all the numbers! Hope you got some good ones to Climber!
Surfed a reef today - diff one to yest - swell had dropped a touch and the other spot had a few on it so I surfed another fav just 0.5km away with one other bloke for the best part of 2 hrs of heaven. Shame I had so much work to do or I would have spent all day out there. Swell looks like its dropping pretty quickly this evening though sadly.
thats fun surgery there - what happened? Should be relatively easy to fix (but timely) and should not affect the performance too much.
All good off to plastic surgeon today - asked for a cross between Nicole Kidman and Kim Kardashian, hope it doesn't come out like Jeff Fenech,
I clearly came into contact with a fin /nose, I was about 30ft away when it happened, my leggie is now about double the length it was before.
Took off, made the drop and got mowed down - maybe a little deep. It was quite solid yesterday with every half hour sets in the double / triple overhead range. We were taking off in 4223 post code and getting off in 4221
Board goes like the clappers - its 9'1 thruster with channels & quite pronounced nose & tail rocker. Hand me down & I love it.
Still majorly big 3 to 5 foot surf at makarori ......ugly looking at dead low tide. Why get seriously punished?
Me and the kneeboarder retreated to pathetic looking shoulder high surf at town beach on Monday....was kind of like swimming and splashing rather than surfing.
Today sponge bay looked doable......paddled out from the car park without getting my hair wet which is always very stylee
Major surf happening out at tuamotu island.
Caught 4 or 5 exciting waves at the rock....but even that was almost closing out.
Thought it funny when getting boards back on car that people were pulling up at the sponge bay car park and not even looking at the island lol
Ya cheers Ted & Pup.....there was a lil bit of a wave yesterday at the beachie & the winds 2knts perfect direction. So might head down there again in a bit Pup
30 kids in yellow rashies trudging out as I got there & the wind was swinging...looked about the same as yesterday though, would have been ok early
nah just poo early this morning mate bit of a fizzer .... still nice sun up though when it did occasionally peek through - very tropical
Surprise swell ..... nothing unreal but 4 or 5 good ones came through .... best news is that the southerly wind is coming in ...... farken awesome waves are on their way ..... Halle farken luja buddah
I hope so mate, a few more of those bigger ones came through a lil more often after you left. But so did a pretty blowy SW...so yeah should be on fingers crossed
No waves again. There is swell, but there is more onshore wind...too wet to skate or fly my new kite.
Since I got the new longboard, well its been **** pretty much.
So today I went and bought that old test match cricket game...must say the bowler man has improved
i had the best felling this arvo guys.
went to work this morning and stopped off at the local noticed a ground swell on the horizon and thought thats funny
after getting somthing like 400m of rain and off i went to work.
finished work at three so i stopped off at the beach and went WOW raced home grabbed the board and had head hi perfection all to myself.
isn't it the best feeling..truly i wish i could bottle that
Come on Weiry show us some pics or clearly it did not happen - as it's too good to be true - just saying
