It was a good sail . Just gotta watch those crab pot ropes , hard to see in glistening sun .
I would have thought more people would have turned up , oh well , more wind for us .

A few lulls as usual for a westerly, but not gusty and erratic

Here, if you are a beginner I suggest incoming tide only as you may find yourself heading out to sea. The current is strong.

Waaaay too much wind after a long break of no wind . Even with a tiny sail I got spanked .Talk about easing into it , not.
I was not proud of my effort today . 5 km of getting trashed followed by a walk of shame , one that required the car .
Using all my remaining strength and way out of control to get across the very lumpy channel , I decided to get off and sit on my board and get blown in , instead of hurting myself or my equipment . I was not the only person using this survival tactic . With the amount of onshore wind it would only take a couple of minutes . I kinda misjudged the big pier that was in my line of blow .
Having said that , God must of felt pity for me , guiding me perfectly through barnacle covered pier pilons as I got blown to shore .
Not a scratch , although embarrassing as a couple fishermen had to pull up their lines as I went under them .
I like my wind under 30 kts .

Yeah it was super windy with the chop in the middle, unhooked most of the way. Also gave up and did the swim of shame.... Would do it again though, you can't waste wind

^^^ Testing conditions fellas. Must've been pretty solid if you guys had to play the shame game.

Yes getting back in was an effort in that water state, riding a slalom board like a wave board over those moguls. The bank never really got exposed due to wind pushing over the sand bars. Challenging conditions.

Strong westerlies a month or so early this year lads. So maybe we are in for a few more or our spring trades might be early. If there's more from the west give Bells Beach Clontarf a go, no tidal run or fishing bridges to deal with. Was solid 25knts+ yesterday, bouncy turns out back but the rest was simple in and out, high wind, flat water fun. Just bring a steamer!

Fun sail yesterday at bongaree, amazing to see so many sailors from all around at the same spot. I wonder if there was anyone left at wello

Luckily got my session in early, sounds like it kicked in another gear in the afternoon!

Hi Guys, Ive tried sailng at bongaree but found it insanely choppy on the onshore and not much fun. How far either side of the low tide does it work?

You get about three hours on a normal low . If it's really windy the channel is a bitch. 15 to 20 kts is nice.

Probably Redcliffe . Bongaree tides are wrong , but doable if it's not too windy .
Cant wait for the nice regular user friendly SEers . Look forward to sailing three days a week for five months

It would be offshore at Turners on Sunday.
Im hoping Bongaree at the peak of high tide or low tide late in the arvo. The outrunning tide is no fun .

Banksia beach is also good in westerlies. Launch from Sunset Park just of the corner of marina Blvd and Sylvan Beach Esplanade. It's kind of opposite Turner's Camp . Just watch out for sandbars near the island north in lowish tides. I'm missing Bribie in winter here in WA when I'm in my 5/3 steamer ??

Best check it out in a really low tide as there are a couple of other hazards, a wreck and some rocks all north of the canal entrance.

A few of the crew were down shaking out the cob webs Sunday afternoon. Bit more wind than it looked out wide.
Some good km's done (not by me ).
Great to catch up, hopefully a repeat with a few more regulars next weekend, or during the week for those who can.
